Here\u2019s what I witnessed while reviewing Animal Equality\u2019s first investigation in Argentina.\n                  <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Pinned against the metal gate, she waits for her turn to die.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The cows ahead push backward in panic, crushing her tighter against the bars.<\/p>\n<p><strong>They\u2019ve seen what\u2019s coming.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her chest heaves. Her eyes dart.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s as if I can hear her heartbeat pounding in my ears.<\/p>\n<p>Our investigators found her<a href=\"https:\/\/animalequality.org\/news\/2025\/09\/02\/animals-bludgeoned-in-argentina-slaughterhouses\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/animalequality.org\/news\/2025\/09\/02\/animals-bludgeoned-in-argentina-slaughterhouses\/\"> inside an Argentine slaughterhouse<\/a>\u2014one of two documented in our latest investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Animal Equality exposes cruelty in Argentina slaughterhouses\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6IDvma28qAE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>These facilities run like assembly lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trucks unload. Gates open. Animals are funneled down narrow chutes to the kill floor.<\/p>\n<p>By law, each cow must enter the stunning stall alone. Here, they will be knocked unconscious before their throats are slit.<\/p>\n<p>But at these facilities, workers force several inside at once.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workers swing sledgehammers as animals collapse, side by side or stacked on top of each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Burned into my memory is the view from the chute\u2014the narrow passage forcing cows toward the stunning box.<\/p>\n<p>Cows wait just inches from the killing area. A thin plank of wood is the only barrier between the living and the dying.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Between the slats, they see the blows land. They hear bodies hit the floor. Perhaps they even smell the blood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And then the gate opens, leaving them nowhere to go but forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the International Investigations Analyst, I reviewed every raw frame from this investigation.<\/p>\n<p>I watched pigs shocked with electric prods on their genitals\u2014illegal, but done anyway.<\/p>\n<p>I saw workers strike animals, pull their ears, and scream at them. She will suffer the same fate.
