Outlander fans, did you know that you can visit some of the Blood of My Blood filming locations?\u00a0<\/p>\n

They filmed the prequel in Scotland, and it makes the perfect excuse for a road trip.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019m completely obsessed with the new show, and so I decided to go on an adventure to revisit the magic.<\/p>\n

Here are 10 Outlander: Blood of My Blood filming locations you can actually visit.<\/p>\n

Where was Outlander: Blood of My Blood filmed?\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Outlander: Blood of My Blood was almost entirely filmed in the lowlands of Scotland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They filmed a large part of the show in Wardpark Film & Television Studios in Cumbernauld.<\/p>\n

But they also used real Scottish castles, churches and countryside to bring Diana Gabaldon\u2019s time-travelling universe to life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So, there are plenty of filming locations that you can actually visit that will make you feel part of the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Outlander: Blood of my Blood filming locations in Scotland<\/h2>\n

1. Doune Castle \/ Castle Leoch<\/h2>\n

Ah, Castle Leoch. Since watching the Outlander series, this has become one of my favourite castles in all of Scotland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I was so happy to see the team use Doune Castle again for Outlander: Blood of my Blood.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the seat of Clan MacKenzie with Laird Colum MacKenzie as its leader.<\/p>\n

Although they only filmed the exteriors of the castle for the prequel, I still think it\u2019s worth visiting the inside as well. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Make sure to pick up an audio guide where you can tune into a special Outlander tour narrated by Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just Outlander that was filmed here, either. Monty Python and Game of Thrones both used this legendary keep for production.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Glasgow Park Circus \/ Julia\u2019s Flat\u00a0<\/h2>\n

In the 20th century, Julia has a flat in London where she eventually lives with Henry.<\/p>\n

The exterior scenes for her apartment were not actually filmed in London but in Glasgow, around Park Circus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They closed these streets for around a week for filming during production.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You can visit Park Circus to see Julia\u2019s home, but remember to be respectful.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a residential area, and they didn\u2019t film inside any of these houses.<\/p>\n

3. Balvaird Castle \/ Castle Leathers\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Did you know that Castle Leathers, where Brian Fraser lives, is a real castle in Scotland?\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called Balvaird Castle, and it\u2019s a keep that existed during the Jacobite era.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The good news for Outlander fans is that it\u2019s open to the public and completely free of charge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Castle Leathers featured in almost every episode of the prequel, you could spend hours chasing down all the filming locations here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a must-visit for any Outlander: Blood of my Blood<\/em> fan!\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. Kelvingrove Park Garden Steps \/ London\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Throughout series 1, episode 2 \u201cS.W.A.K (Sealed With a Kiss)\u201d<\/em>, Henry is fighting in World War I while Julia is working in a censorship office.<\/p>\n

They fall in love through love letters and finally meet in person after his leave is approved.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They are united on a set of London steps where they have their first kiss, and these steps can be found in Glasgow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You only need to head to the Kelvingrove Park Garden Steps to find them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They are near Park Circus, where the exteriors of Julia\u2019s flat were filmed.<\/p>\n

5. Kinloch Rannoch \/ Craigh Na Dun\u00a0<\/h2>\n

I often get the question, \u2018Does Craigh Na Dun exist?\u2019. Well, I have some good and bad news for you.<\/p>\n

The bad is that the stone circle is not real. But the good news is that the breathtaking place where the scenes were filmed is.<\/p>\n

You can visit the Craigh Na Dun filming location at Kinloch Rannoch in Perthshire.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s private land, the family do let fans visit. There\u2019s even a small car park that accepts donations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is quite a drive to get here, but well worth the effort if you\u2019re a fan of Outlander and the new prequel.<\/p>\n

Here, you can see the location where Julia and Henry travel back in time through the stones.\u00a0<\/p>\n

6. Kilbride Castle Chapel \/ Fraser Chapel\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Another Blood of My Blood filming location you can visit is Kilbride Castle Chapel near Stirling.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see this chapel in many notable scenes with Julia Beauchamp, Simon Fraser, Davina Porter, Brian Fraser and Murtagh.<\/p>\n

On my visit, I couldn\u2019t go inside as it was closed for the winter. But it was worth seeing from the outside. It\u2019s such a beautiful place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A wee warning: driving here requires travelling on single lanes with passing places, and there is very limited parking by the entry gate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Remember to park with consideration and leave no trace after your visit.<\/p>\n

7. Melville House \/ Grant Estate<\/h2>\n

Melville House was a filming location for the Grant Residence in Blood of my Blood.<\/p>\n

Here, we see Henry Beauchamp act as the bladier for Laird Isaac Grant of Clan Grant.<\/p>\n

Although most of the interiors were filmed in Bannockburn House near Stirling, the exteriors were filmed here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a stunning 17th-century property in Fife, worth taking a peek.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Did you know you can actually stay on the grounds of Melville House? It\u2019s called Melville Escapes<\/a>, and it looks like a dream getaway.<\/p>\n

8. Midhope Castle \/ Lallybroch<\/h2>\n

Lallybroch is the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser in Outlander, and it was once again used for production in Blood of My Blood.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is a real castle that you can visit near South Queensferry in Edinburgh, on the wider Hopetoun Estate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Midhope Castle is a 15th-century keep built by John Martyne.<\/p>\n

It was inhabited until the 20th century, until it was abandoned and fell into decline.<\/p>\n

For years, many people paid little attention to it until it was used for Lallybroch in the Outlander series. Now, it sees visitors every day!<\/p>\n

The great news for fans is that it\u2019s open to the public, and you can visit for a small fee.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although you can\u2019t go inside, it\u2019s well worth the time and money to say you\u2019ve been there and for the photo opportunities!<\/p>\n

9. Culross Abbey Mansion \/ Nairn Palace\u00a0<\/h2>\n

If you were wondering where Nairn Palace was filmed, it was on the grounds of Culross Abbey Mansion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this is private property, and so you cannot access it without permission.<\/p>\n

But you can still visit Culross Abbey next door, which is owned by Historic Scotland. You\u2019ll recognise the church tower from the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a Cistercian abbey founded in the 13th century by Malcom, Earl of Fife. It\u2019s free to visit and is such a peaceful place.<\/p>\n

\"Culross<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Culross is also where they filmed the village of Cranesmuir in Outlander. So, it\u2019s well worth visiting if you\u2019re a fan.<\/p>\n

You can wander the historic streets in the village, explore Culross Palac<\/a>e & gardens and take a walk to the West Kirk<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All are Outlander filming locations that appeared in the very first series.<\/p>\n

Culross<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

10. Luss \/ Beltaine, Tynchal & Clan Gatherings<\/h2>\n

The scenes of Beltaine, the Tynchal and some clan gatherings were all filmed in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although you\u2019ll be hard-pressed to find the exact location of the forests, lochs and glens, you can visit the gorgeous village of Luss.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a stunning area of natural beauty where you can take a stroll through the historic houses, have a coffee or take a ferry across the lake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They also filmed some of Outlander around Loch Katrine nearby, if you want to plan a themed day out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Addressing the Blood of my Blood bridge location<\/h2>\n

I know I\u2019m going to get a lot of questions about the Blood of my Blood bridge location, as it\u2019s such a lovely spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I never normally gatekeep places, as it\u2019s not my style. But, in this rare instance, I am not sharing it (even the area) in order to protect it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s in a very remote location on private land, and the owner and production company want to keep the location secret.<\/p>\n

This place was also accessed responsibly, adhering to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, and no trace was left.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I managed to find this on my own through research and satellite images, but also a bit of luck and blind faith.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re stubborn enough, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll find it eventually. Thank you for your understanding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
