Further investigation into the former FTX executive and his then-girlfriend, Michelle Bond, <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-partner-michelle-bond-campaign-finance-charges\">resulted in the latter<\/a> facing campaign finance charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not in the business of gotcha or tricking people into pleading guilty,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/innercitypress.bsky.social\/post\/3m637tgcll22l\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> Sassoon, referring to Bond being charged after Salame\u2019s plea.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"100 Years in Jail?! SBF Trial Verdict Explained\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_vWUlHcMK1E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Bond, one of the final figures tied to the criminal cases involving former FTX executives, has been attempting to have her charges dismissed <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/michelle-bond-ftx-exec-dismissal-guilty-plea\">based on claims<\/a> that prosecutors \u201cinduced a guilty plea\u201d from Salame. The end of her case would likely mark the final chapter in criminal charges that began when FTX filed for bankruptcy in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/three-years-ftx-collapse-crypto-creditors-exchangeearns-back-trust\"><em><strong>Three years after FTX\u2019s collapse, creditors wait as the industry rebuilds trust<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to cause unlawful campaign contributions, causing and accepting excessive campaign contributions, causing and receiving an unlawful corporate contribution and causing and receiving a conduit contribution. <\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">The charges are closely tied to Salame allegedly ordering $400,000 in funds connected to FTX, which was used for Bond\u2019s 2022 campaign for a seat in the US House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<h2>It\u2019s been three years since FTX collapsed\u2026 who\u2019s in prison?<\/h2>\n<p>Salame <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/convicted-ftx-executive-ryan-salame-officially-prison-custody\">reported for his seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence<\/a> in October 2024. Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, pleaded guilty and began serving a two-year sentence in November 2024. <\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Two other former executives named in the indictment, Nishad Singh and Gary Wang, pleaded guilty and received sentences of time served.<\/p>\n<p>For Bankman-Fried, however, the saga is ongoing. The former CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/judge-orders-sam-bankman-fried-bail-revoked-following-allegations-witness-intimidation\">has been behind bars<\/a> since August 2023, when a judge revoked his bail over allegations of witness intimidation. He was later tried, found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison as part of proceedings closely monitored by many in the crypto and blockchain industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"18190687\"\/><\/p>\n<p>SBF\u2019s lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-sam-bankman-fried-returns-court-appeal\">returned to court<\/a> on Nov. 4 to argue for overturning the former CEO\u2019s conviction and sentence. Filings claimed that Bankman-Fried was \u201cnever presumed innocent\u201d during his trial and argued his legal team was not allowed to present information regarding FTX\u2019s solvency.<\/p>\n<p>There is also speculation among many crypto users that SBF may be <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/sbf-pardon-odds-rise-12-percent-polymarket\">attempting to obtain a pardon<\/a> from US President Donald Trump.
