U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche\u00a0<\/strong>said a federal investigation is warranted into the six Democratic lawmakers who called for military members and the CIA to \u201crefuse illegal orders\u201d from President Donald Trump,\u00a0<\/strong>with Blanche saying they \u201cshould be required to answer questions about why they did what they did.\u201d<\/p>\n He was asked about the matter on Sean Hannity\u2019s<\/strong> Fox News program on Wednesday night.\u00a0Hannity said he found the video the lawmakers posted a day before to be \u201cextremely alarming,\u201d and Blanche agreed, saying it was \u201cabhorrent\u201d to watch.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like I was watching a propaganda video by one of our enemies trying to recruit the military to become spies,\u201d Blanche said. He then asked if \u201cwhat they did is a crime? I mean, you tell me what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n Hannity turned the question back around at Blanche, saying Blanche\u2019s resume as an attorney led him to believe the official knew the answer.<\/p>\n \u201cYou are number two at the DoJ. Does this need to be investigated, and what would the investigation be under?\u201d Hannity asked.<\/p>\n Blanche said a probe would focus on their \u201cintent\u201d for making such claims. Here is the key part of his answer:<\/p>\n What is the reason that they all went on a video and encouraged young men and women to defy court orders? Without even giving a hint of what\u2019s illegal, without giving any suggestion of what law or what order they are being asked to violate.<\/p>\n You cannot do that in this country, especially if you\u2019re a leader. And so what does the investigation look like? I think they should be held to account. I think that those congressmen should be required to answer questions about why they did what they did and the American people deserve that, and so does President Trump.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n His appearance on Hannity comes a day after Sen. Elissa Slotkin<\/strong>\u00a0(D-MI) posted a video on X where she and five other lawmakers said that \u201cthreats to the Constitution aren\u2019t just coming from abroad, but right here at home.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders,\u201d the lawmakers said, as they took turns reading lines from the same statement.<\/p>\n The other Democrats in the video were Rep.\u00a0Chris Deluzio<\/strong>\u00a0(D-PA), Rep.\u00a0Maggie Goodlander<\/strong>\u00a0(D-NH), Rep.\u00a0Jason Crow<\/strong> (D-CO), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan<\/strong>\u00a0(D-PA), and Sen.\u00a0Mark Kelly<\/strong>\u00a0(D-AZ). Those lawmakers\u00a0served in the Navy, Army, Air Force, or Central Intelligence Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
