font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Once just two percent of servers run on blockchain technology, Bank of America research analyst Kash Rangan predicts the market for blockchain technology will be worth $7 billion.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Nine companies have been identified as likely to benefit significantly from the technology including Amazon and Microsoft.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">As reported by\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/10\/02\/blockchain-could-be-a-major-boost-to-amazon-microsoft-analyst-says--.html\" style=\"background-color: transparent; box-sizing: border-box; text-decoration-line: none;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">CNBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">, Rangan didn\u2019t put a time stamp on his predictions but also included technology giants Oracle, IBM, Salesforce, and VMware as others set to benefit.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\n<span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u201cMany blockchain use cases have been identified, but full products\/services have not yet been built out and are not used in production,\u201d said Rangan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">The analyst says that Amazon Web Services (AWS) will benefit \u201cfrom incremental cloud services demand from blockchain implementation, while improved supply chain tracking should make Amazon\u2019s retail operations more efficient.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Rangan also predicts that blockchain will improve software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms and that blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) will emerge to the benefit of the likes of Microsoft.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 24px; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 20px;\">\n<b style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Amazon \u2013 the Rumors and the Reality<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>\n<span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">As one of the largest corporations in the world and one that is known for being quick to eliminate inefficiencies, Amazon is being watched carefully for blockchain or cryptocurrency adoption.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Rumors often circulate about Amazon\u2019s ownership of certain blockchain and cryptocurrency related web domains, prompting some to believe Amazon is about to take the leap.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 10px;\">\n<span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">The reality is not known.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">So far, Amazon\u2019s AWS cloud computing arm has partnered with Kaleido to offer a blockchain-based platform for clients to build their projects.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/05\/15\/amazon-is-moving-into-blockchain-with-a-new-partnership.html\" style=\"background-color: transparent; box-sizing: border-box; text-decoration-line: none;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Kaleido<\/span><\/a><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">, announced in May 2018, was the first Blockchain SaaS solution on the AWS Marketplace for business.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 10px;\">\n<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">AWS appears to be looking to partnerships to bring blockchain to its clients rather than developing technology internally. Kaleido uses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unhashed.com\/cryptocurrency-coin-guides\/ethereum\/\" style=\"background-color: transparent; box-sizing: border-box; text-decoration-line: none;\">Ethereum blockchain technology<\/a>. Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin said in May,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\n<em style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 17.5px;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u201cThis is a heavy duty, full stack way of getting the company into blockchain solutions.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 24px; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.4; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 20px;\">\n<b style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Microsoft \u2013 Moving Data to Blockchain<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>\n<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Microsoft\u2019s Azure cloud computing service has been using blockchain technology for around three years.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Matt Kerner, general manager of Microsoft Azure, revealed that Microsoft has been looking to underpin blockchain into many of its other platforms including Office 365 and SAP. The overall plan, according to reports, is for Microsoft users to move their data from these platforms to the cloud and then onto blockchain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Potentially to this end, Microsoft Azure has added Microsoft Flow and Logic Apps which can connect applications into the Azure Blockchain Workbench for developers. Kerner says this is part of the evolution of Big Data.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 10px;\">\n<span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">\u201cBlockchain empowers the next step \u2013 enabling a single, authentic data set shared across counterparties. This is already improving the way transactions happen,\u201d Kerner told\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/microsoft-is-slowly-but-surely-connecting-blockchain-to-major-products\/\" style=\"background-color: transparent; box-sizing: border-box; text-decoration-line: none;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">CoinDesk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">\u00a0in September 2018. \u201cWe believe the same will be true with data analytics.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\n<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"color: #666666; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">The Bank of America analyst\u2019s predictions are based firmly in fact. Amazon, Microsoft and other technology leaders like Facebook and IBM are all investigating and beginning to adopt blockchain into their technology stacks.
