As always, all recommendations are my own.<\/em><\/p>\n Renowned for its year-round sunshine, charming towns, and crystal-clear bays, Mallorca is a spectacular destination for families \u2014 with plenty to do beyond the resort pool. We\u2019re a family with itchy feet and a need for adventure, so wherever we go, we make sure to get out and about and explore. In Mallorca, this meant hiring a little car, heading down winding roads, and finding hidden gems that became the highlights of our trip.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve put together a guide with the very best things to do in Mallorca with kids \u2014 from hidden coves to boat trips, mountain trains to cooking workshops.<\/p>\n Find what you’re looking for quickly<\/p>\n Toggle<\/span> Why we loved it:<\/strong> Hiring a car at Palma Airport was the best decision of our one-week holiday. It gave us the freedom to explore hard-to-reach beaches and coves \u2014 and believe me, the adventure of the drive is half the fun. Keep reading for a few of our favourites:<\/p>\n A gorgeous shingle beach dotted with fishermen\u2019s houses, where the turquoise water was so clear we spotted shoals of fish swimming right by us.<\/p>\n One of Mallorca\u2019s most photographed coves, with a narrow strip of white sand and striking cliffs on either side.<\/p>\n There are so many different beaches for you to discover in Mallorca, from these little coves to long, sandy stretches; I found most of the ones we visited by browsing photos on Instagram by location, on Pinterest, or on this great guide to the beaches in Mallorca<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mallorca is home to an impressive system of underground caves<\/a>, some of which are open to the public. Children of all ages will be mesmerised by the Caves of Drach and the Caves de Arta in Porto Cristo with its incredible rock formations and crystal-clear waters, or by the Campanet\u2019s Caves (pictured below). There are several caves you can explore and swim in<\/a>, which make for a fantastic day out, especially with older kids. <\/p>\n I recommend getting a car while in Mallorca to really make the most of the island, but in case you don\u2019t have one, there are several tours<\/a> you can take to the caves, from boat trips to full-day trips. <\/p>\n By far our favourite day on our last trip in Mallorca was the half day boat sunset trip<\/a> we took from Alcudia. We went on a slightly more expensive boat, and it was so worth it. There were only 6 of us in total, so it was just such a relaxing afternoon of bay-hopping, paddleboarding and snorkelling and enjoying some sundowner drinks with some new friends. <\/p>\n There was a girl on her own, who had been on the morning sailing and decided to join again in the afternoon she loved it so much! Compared to the boats passing us packed with dozens of people, it was definitely worth the extra \u20ac50 or so, it was one of the best days we had on the island.<\/p>\n The calm, clear waters around Mallorca are perfect for beginners. <\/p>\n Best spots for snorkelling with kids:<\/strong><\/p>\n You can join a guided snorkelling tour<\/a> which includes all equipment, or simply pack your own gear and explore from the beach.<\/p>\n For a very different type of experience, a horse riding trip up the mountains near Alcudia<\/a> will make everyone happy. You\u2019ll be able to feed and interact with the animals on arrival to the ranch, before getting on your horse and riding up the mountain overlooking the beautiful Alcudia Bay, connecting to the island\u2019s countryside. During brunch, you\u2019ll taste a selection of local products including serrano ham, and mallorcan cheese.<\/p>\n S\u00f3ller, nestled in a valley surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains, is picture-perfect and full of character. Kids will love the tram ride that connects the town to the port, and parents will appreciate the caf\u00e9s in the sunny main square.<\/p>\n Getting there:<\/strong> Take the vintage wooden train from Palma for a scenic journey through the mountains \u2014 it\u2019s a highlight in itself. Check train times here<\/a><\/p>\n This nature reserve<\/a> has zip lines, hanging bridges, and shaded walking trails through waterfalls and streams. It\u2019s active, but you can go at your own pace, and the natural setting makes it feel like an adventure film backdrop.<\/p>\n Mallorca\u2019s waterparks are perfect for cooling off on a hot day and keeping everyone entertained. Aqualand El Arenal<\/strong> is ideal for younger kids with gentle slides and splash zones, while Western Water Park<\/strong> in Magaluf has bigger rides for teens. Arrive early for the shortest queues and grab a shaded base spot.<\/p>\n The Alcudia market is a colourful feast for the senses. Discover fresh fruit stalls, handmade jewellery, and baskets of fragrant herbs. We picked up picnic supplies here before heading to the beach. It\u2019s stroller-friendly if you go early, but gets busy mid-morning, so plan to arrive soon after opening.<\/p>\n For families with older kids, a buggy tour <\/a>is a thrilling way to see Mallorca\u2019s coast and mountains. You\u2019ll drive your own buggy while following a guide on scenic backroads. Kids will love the open-air excitement. Remember, a driving licence is required for the driver, and sun protection is essential.<\/p>\n Cooking classes are a great way to introduce kids to local culture. In Mallorca, family-friendly workshops often start with a market visit, then you\u2019ll prepare dishes like paella or tortilla. Kids (ages 12+) can get stuck in chopping, stirring, and, of course, tasting. It\u2019s a relaxed, hands-on experience, and a good way to get to know the local way of life.<\/p>\n The Tramuntana mountains offer beautiful walking routes for all abilities. Choose a shorter trail with shade if you\u2019re hiking with little ones, and pack plenty of water. <\/p>\n Mallorca\u2019s hidden coves and freshwater spots are perfect for a wild swim. With older kids, you can explore tucked-away bays like Cala Varques, or head inland for natural pools. Always check the water conditions first, and bring reef shoes for rocky areas. It\u2019s a refreshing, off-the-beaten-path experience in summer.<\/p>\n Canyoning is for adventurous families with older kids or teens, combining hiking, climbing, and leaping into crystal pools. Guided trips take you through gorges and waterfalls in Mallorca\u2019s wilder areas. It\u2019s an adrenaline rush, but also a safe, structured way to try something new with expert supervision and equipment provided. <\/p>\n Reserva Park<\/a> is part wildlife sanctuary, part nature trail, set in the Tramuntana foothills. You\u2019ll see native animals, follow shaded paths past waterfalls, and find picnic spots along the way. It\u2019s a full-day outing best suited to active kids, and the cooler mountain air is a welcome break from the coast. <\/p>\n In Jungle Parc<\/a>, kids can test their courage on rope bridges, ziplines, and climbing obstacles set in the trees. There are courses for different ages and heights, so everyone can join in. It\u2019s a great way to burn energy, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment.<\/p>\n If the weather turns, a fan-painting workshop is a creative, cultural way to spend a couple of hours. Suitable for teens 14+ only, you can choose colours and patterns, while learning about the fan\u2019s place in Spanish tradition. <\/p>\n Palma Aquarium<\/a> is a hit with children thanks to its giant tanks, interactive touch pools, and 3D films. The shark tunnel is the real showstopper, while younger kids will enjoy the outdoor play area. It\u2019s easy to reach from Palma city and makes for a great half-day visit.<\/p>\n This colourful museum is set in the former home and studio of Spanish artist Joan Mir\u00f3<\/a>. Even children who aren\u2019t \u201cinto art\u201d will enjoy the bold, playful works and bright spaces. There are family-friendly workshops available, and the gardens offer a peaceful spot for a snack afterwards.<\/p>\n Sports fans will love the Rafa Nadal Museum <\/a>in Manacor. Alongside tennis memorabilia, there are interactive simulators for cycling, rowing, and even Formula 1. It\u2019s engaging for both kids and adults, and the competitive element often sparks some fun family challenges. Perfect for a sporty afternoon away from the beach.<\/p>\n1. Beach hopping<\/h3>\n
