The charges stem from an alleged incident that happened last week at a hotel.<\/p>\n<p>According to local news station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wavy.com\/news\/local-news\/chesapeake\/former-empire-star-bryshere-gray-faces-charges-in-chesapeake\/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter_WAVY_News\">WAVY, <\/a>Gray is accused of assaulting Dustin Wilkins, also known as Chosen, following a heated argument at a Homewood Suites.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cAs I was explaining to him that he can\u2019t just leave without paying, adding that you have enough problems\u2026I am trying to save your life,\u201d Wilkins said. \u201cHe then charged towards me from around the car. Charged into me with his shoulder\u2026and fighting me as I was recording the incident over the phone\u2026a blunt blow into me and punching me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilkins also claimed that Gray\u2019s behavior was due to his struggle with mental illness.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group wp-block-mediaco-read-next is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cSomething took place in a mental health aspect. I can not disclose what happened, I can not disclose the details of that,\u201d explained Wilkins to WAVY. \u201cAll I can tell you is Bryshere is a friend, he\u2019s like my brother. He is just someone who is dealing with some very interesting mental health issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBryshere doesn\u2019t need to be in jail. He wouldn\u2019t survive in jail. He needs mental help,\u201d hw continued.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, Gray has had several run-ins with the law. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hot97.com\/news\/empire-actor-bryshere-gray-have-been-arrested-on-domestic-violence-charges\/\">arrested<\/a> on domestic abuse charges and violated his probation in 2022. The same year, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hot97.com\/news\/empire-star-bryshere-gray-pleads-guilty-in-federal-domestic-violence-case-must-do-jail-time\/\">pleaded<\/a> guilty to aggravated assault against his wife.
