That is why today, we will be discussing about the healing powers of one of the amazing plants that the earth is endowed with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Common name:<\/strong> Siam Weed, bitter bush, Christmas bush, Chromolaena, archangel. camphor grass, common floss flower, communist green.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Botanical name:<\/strong> Chromolaena Odorata.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Local name:<\/strong> acheampong (Ghana) Ewe\u0301 Akint\u1ecdla (Akint\u1ecdla\u2019s leaf) Ewe\u0301 Awol\u1ecdw\u1ecd (Awol\u1ecdw\u1ecd\u2019s leaf), (Yoruba) Obiara Ohuu, Ewu ata (Igbo) Devil weed (Australia) diabantou (Congo) Sekou you\u2019re (cote d\u2019ivoire) ashoke lata (India), Gautan Kaji (Hausa), Armstrong weed (South Africa) Independence leaf\u201d or \u201cQueen Elizabeth weed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In Igboland is called \u201cObiarakara\u201d meaning, \u201cstranger which arrived and started lording\u201d \u2013 evidence of its sudden arrival on our shores!<br \/>So why all these names \u2013 Akint\u1ecdla, Awol\u1ecdw\u1ecd, Obiarakara, Independence, Queen Elizabeth?<\/p>\n<p>Well, according to research, it suddenly appeared in Nigeria circa 1960 . No record of the plant growing anywhere in Nigeria before the year of independence (1960) .
