Which are the busiest airports in the US? We\u2019ve taken a look at airline capacity data for the summer season of 2025\u00a0to see which US airports have the most departing seats.<\/span><\/p>\n

In summer 2025, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) <\/span>remains <\/span>the busiest airport in the US<\/span> with 38.0\u00a0million seats, 2% more than in summer 2024. It sits around\u00a0seven million seats ahead of the airport in second place, Chicago O’Hare<\/span> (31.3 million)<\/strong>. Capacity at Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) has grown by 9% in Summer 2025 compared to last year. Its two largest carriers, United and American are driving growth with increases of 9% and 20% in their domestic seat capacity respectively.<\/p>\n

The third busiest airport for scheduled airline capacity is\u00a0Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) <\/span>with <\/span>30.7 million seats.<\/p>\n

The top ten US airports account for 35% of capacity operating at the 672 US airports with scheduled services.<\/p>\n
