The 2025 action\/comedy Deep Cover<\/strong><\/em> proves itself to be a breath of fresh air. It is insanely good and almost a laugh a minute. After watching several films with asinine plot lines, this Tom Kingsley<\/a> directed feature was finally worth watching. All 99 minutes of it worked unbelievably well.<\/p>\n Set in London, three unsuccessful improvisational performers go to work for the police. Their goal? To take down a drug dealing kingpin. *Not unlike the Netflix \u201ctrue story\u201d about a Hitman<\/a>, Deep Cover<\/em><\/strong> is a fun look at a not<\/em> true story.* In this case, however, we follow three \u201closers\u201d on their own personal journey into the basement of life. That is, until Met cop Billings recruits Kat, who then recruits Marlon and Hugh. <\/p>\n Bryce Dallas Howard<\/a> is Kat.<\/p>\n Orlando Bloom<\/a> is Marlon.<\/p>\n Nick Mohammed<\/a> is Hugh.<\/p>\n Sean Bean<\/a> is Billings.<\/p>\n Paddy Considine<\/a> is Fly.<\/p>\n Sonoya Mizuno<\/a> is Shosh.<\/p>\n Ian McShane<\/a> is Metcalfe.<\/p>\n Ben Ashenden<\/a> is Dawes.<\/p>\n Alexander Owen<\/a> is Beverly.<\/p>\n Leart Dokle<\/a> is Skender.<\/p>\n Omid Djalili<\/a> is Sagar.<\/p>\n Freya Parker<\/a> is Harriet.<\/p>\n Nneka Okoye<\/a> as K-Lash. \u201cWhatta ya sayin\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Greatest improv gig ever? Kat, Marlon and Hugh manage to fool Fly, and then go on to pull the wool over Skender\u2019s peepers. The entire gig was meant to be about buying illegal cigarettes. After inadvertently upping the stakes, the three become Roach, Bunny and The Squire. <\/p>\n The only villain who senses they are not what they claim is Metcalfe, who is as mad as a hatter. <\/p>\n The trio manage to sell back the Albanian\u2019s own cocaine. They then kill a hitman, and get their contact killed. <\/p>\n It is a gloriously funny journey into the criminal underworld by three actors playing their parts. Marlon is all method, Kat is support your team member and Hugh is the bumbler.<\/p>\n Director Kingsley works with a script written by no less than four people. Derek Connolly<\/a>, Colin Trevorrow<\/a>, Ben Ashenden<\/a>, and Alexander Owen<\/a> all share credit on this one. In this instance there are not too many cooks working this \u201cbroth.\u201d DP Will Hanke<\/a> and editor Mark Williams<\/a> work together to put out bright, glaring scenes. These are then combined with gritty and dark underworld frames of outside London. <\/p>\nThe story<\/h4>\n
