Just look at all the <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/category\/connections\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">wildly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/category\/wordle\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">popular<\/a> games from <em>The New York Times.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now, it appears that Apple is trying to break into that world. iOS 26, <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/article\/apple-wwdc-2025-ios-26-confirmed-whats-new-looks-design\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">which was announced<\/a> this week at Apple&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/live\/apple-wwdc-2025-keynote-announcements-live-blog\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">Worldwide Developers Conference<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/category\/wwdc\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">WWDC<\/a>), includes a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/mg\/newsroom\/2025\/06\/apple-services-deliver-powerful-features-and-intelligent-updates-to-users-this-fall\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">new &#8220;Emoji Game&#8221; for Apple News+ subscribers<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The idea is that you fill in blanks with emoji to complete three phrases. Folks who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/article\/apple-wwdc-2025-how-to-download-ios-26\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\">are using the iOS 26 beta<\/a>\u00a0and<em>\u00a0<\/em>are Apple News+ subscribers can start playing the game today. It seems like it&#8217;ll follow a similar playbook to the <em>NYT<\/em>&#8216;s game offerings \u2014 a daily, shareable puzzle that tracks your stats. <\/p>\n<p>Wrote Apple in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/mg\/newsroom\/2025\/06\/apple-services-deliver-powerful-features-and-intelligent-updates-to-users-this-fall\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-ga-click=\"1\" data-ga-label=\"$text\" data-ga-item=\"text-link\" data-ga-module=\"content_body\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">press release<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Users can share puzzles, track stats and streaks, and compete with others through Game Center leaderboards. Emoji Game features a daily puzzle available in the U.S. and for English-speaking users in Canada, and can be accessed from the Following tab in the News app.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If people love the Emoji Game, it could prove useful for getting people to subscribe to Apple News\u200c+.
