A new year means lots of exciting planning and looking forward to what 2025 has in store here at Anime Limited \u2013 and boy do we have plenty to talk about throughout the year \u2013 but let\u2019s start small\u2026 while last month we talked you through some of our initial pre-order plans for January we did leave some gaps, and now is the time to fill them\u2026 and how! Next on the docket is the return to the UK of one incredible film, finally provided with the Collector\u2019s Edition treatment that it deserves \u2013 TEKKONKINKREET<\/em>. Based on a manga by the inimitable Taiyo Matsumoto (Ping Pong<\/em>), directed by Michael Arias with music by English electronic music act Plaid, this film is a true sensation for the mind and senses.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the creators of Animatrix comes this visually-stunning anime film based on a popular Japanese manga written by Taiyo Matsumoto. In Treasure Town, where the moon smiles and young boys can fly, life can be both gentle and brutal. This is never truer than for our heroes, Black and White, two street urchins who watch over the city, doing battle with an array of old-world Yakuza and alien assassins vying to rule the decaying metropolis.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Our Collector\u2019s Edition release contains the film on both DVD and Blu-ray, stored within an Amaray case. Also included is a 28-page booklet absolutely crammed with production artwork, from concepts through to characters and storyboards to key frames \u2013 an unmissable peek into the creation of an additional film.<\/p>\n

To round things off, our release is housed within a rigid slipcase, sporting an exclusive piece of artwork from Taiyo Matsumoto himself!<\/p>\n

Blue Giant<\/strong> Collector\u2019s Edition Blu-ray<\/p>\n

Now, here\u2019s one you\u2019ve been asking us about for some time now, ever since its theatrical release last year which so many of you absolutely adored. Now, at least, we can reveal our plans for Blue Giant<\/em> on Blu-ray, and we couldn\u2019t be more excited!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n

As a starting point, you might notice something a little different about the slipcase size for this one \u2013 given the musical heritage of this film, we wanted to shake things up slightly, so while this Collector\u2019s Edition release is the same height as a typical set, your eyes do not deceive you, and this slipcase is indeed wider. This gives it the same square dimensions as a vinyl record, but with a smaller size footprint \u2013 think of it as like a mini-vinyl set\u2026 only with a Blu-ray inside.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just a Blu-ray disc inside that striking case however \u2013 we\u2019ve also crafted an exclusive A3 \u201cgig\u201d poster, added in a sticker sheet to make the use of some of the fun logos and iconography the movie has to offer, and every single unit will also contain a serialised, numbered art card.<\/p>\n

All this, and we haven\u2019t even gotten to the gorgeous 64-page booklet yet \u2013 it\u2019s another good reason for the special dimensions of this release, allowing us to cram it full of content. As well as a whole set of character designs, we have interviews across the film\u2019s production crew, including the director, producer, music producer, colour and art team and the gig scene specific directors. It\u2019s a great insight into the production of a story that\u2019s challenging to translate to the big screen, and will give you a whole new appreciation on how it was possible.<\/p>\n

Blue Giant<\/em> rounds off our pre-order slate for January, with Early Bird pre-orders opening on 30th January 2025.<\/p>\n
