\n<\/p>\n
The 2025 horror\/thriller Dead Mail<\/strong><\/em> is all about synthesized obsession, with an instrument and a person, Nancy Drew perhaps? In this terse low budget production, it seems that history repeats itself. Lightning can strike the same place, or person, twice with deadly consequences. <\/p>\n Dead letter clerk Jasper is a master at solving mail issues. He has an excellent record of getting those \u201cdead\u201d parcels to their respective owners. A bloodstained letter and envelope changes everything.<\/p>\n Tomas Boykin<\/a> is Jasper.<\/p>\n Sean Heyman<\/a> is Brooks.<\/p>\n Sterling Macer Jr.<\/a> is Josh. <\/p>\n John Fleck<\/a> is Trent.<\/p>\n Micki Jackson<\/a> is Ann.<\/p>\n Susan Priver<\/a> is Bess.<\/p>\n Nick Heyman<\/a> is Renee.<\/p>\n Dead Mail<\/em><\/strong> is about as true as Fargo<\/strong><\/em>, a film that proposed a link to a real story. One that impressed a young Japanese<\/a> lady so much she died for it.<\/p>\n While this can be seen as a sort of homage to the Coen Bros film, it lacks the dark comedy. It also manages its deaths with a minimum of blood and guts, no viscera needed here thank you. <\/p>\n It does manage to bring suspense levels up to near maximum in many of its scenes. <\/p>\n Writers\/directors Joe DeBoer<\/a> and Kyle McConaghy<\/a> give us a tale that is about as down key as you can get. Until people start getting murdered and kidnapped. The story is downplayed so well that when the true story \u201cfollow ups\u201d appear, we are completely sucked in. <\/p>\n The two creators even manage to make the follow ups themselves suspect. A ball player for the Alcoholic Anonymous affiliate to the Milwaukee Brewers? Good one guys. <\/p>\n The above mentioned comic genius is apparent throughout the entirety of the film. Set in the 1980\u2019s, we are not overly surprised that a dead mail clerk utilizes a computer expert. One that, despite being behind the iron curtain, is able to track down US addresses easily.<\/p>\n The local \u201chomeless\u201d establishment is not the good old YMCA, that The Village People sang about, but it is similar. The VP\u2019s may not have wanted to stay there as it certainly seems to be straight. *Cough, cough.*<\/p>\n It is interesting that at a time when companies were overly anal about permanent addresses, especially the USPS, a guy living at the \u201cY\u201d could work there. <\/p>\n The above issue is a plot hole . It does not take away from the overall entertainment value of Dead Mail<\/em><\/strong>. We never worry about it. There is far too much going on in good old Trent\u2019s shed and basement for us to care about it. <\/p>\n Listen out for Bach\u2019s instrumental touch here. \u201cAir on the G String\u201d is a popular tune with filmmakers.
