Center For Audit Quality, the Kool-aid distributors responsible for the Accounting+ initiative that should not be confused with the VR game of the same name<\/a>, have released their latest Audit Partner Pulse Survey for spring 2025<\/a> and oh boy. We shouldn\u2019t be surprised to find out audit partners at the largest public company audit firms in the US aren\u2019t feeling rosy about the future but we didn\u2019t realize they\u2019d be this dour.<\/p>\n

To the question \u201cOverall, how would you characterize your outlook regarding the US economy over the next 12 months?\u201d the percentage of audit partners pessimistic about the future of the economy rose from 10% in 2024 to 44% while optimistic responses went from 38% to 15%. Are y\u2019all OK?<\/p>\n

There\u2019s another chart we\u2019d like to share with you. On the subject of human capital, 54% of respondents say companies in their primary industry are reducing headcount. 45% of these companies are maintaining compensation while just 11% are increasing it. We want you to remember that the next time one of these companies runs to the news to cry about how they can\u2019t find talent.<\/p>\n
