They said they found it more comfortable as it was much thinner, and that they enjoyed the sleek profile, as it offered a nice, contemporary look.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30101156\/20250401_PatekPhilippe_024-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179492\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>But even with the more positive reaction, there were comments about the \u2018oversize\u2019 of the overall watch and some of the design elements.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does the Cubitus fare now?<\/h2>\n<p>Somehow Cubitus has managed to defy its early critics to become a commercial success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30102058\/thierry-stern-patek-philippe-cubitus-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179494\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Despite the initial backlash, the collection sold well, with collectors eager to get their hands on the new models &#8211; not an unfamiliar story as the same was true of Audemar Piguet\u2019s Royal Oak.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, beyond its catchy design, the Cubitus did introduce some notable technical advancements, while coming in at that more accessible entry point for younger fans.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30103101\/PP_5822P_001_DET_DIAL_01-600x400.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179495\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Thierry Stern certainly acknowledged the risks of introducing the Cubitus but said the brand needed to keep up with innovation to ensure the brand&#8217;s long-term vitality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30104116\/a8ccb1d9718024aaaaaded79e5142a77d4869e17400d6183097064f17e518234-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179496\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>He likened the decision to Enzo Ferrari\u2019s approach of selling road cars to support racing efforts, suggesting the Cubitus helps maintain the exclusivity of flagship models like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luxewatches.co.uk\/brand\/patek-philippe\/nautilus\/?product_cat=nautilus\">Nautilus<\/a> and Aquanaut.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleek design&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>The Cubitus features a 45mm square case with rounded corners, blending geometric elements from squares, circles, and octagons. It was a new take on Patek Philippe&#8217;s traditional aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the Nautilus but with its own cheeky identity.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coveted.com\/watches\/collections\/patek-philippe-cubitus?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30104234\/PP_5821_1AR_001_DET_CASE_DIAL-600x400.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179497\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>With a skinny profile at just 8.3mm thick for the time-and-date models and 9.6mm for the platinum version with complications, it was judged comfortable on the wrist.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubitus initially launched with three models &#8211; the olive green time-and-date (reference 5821\/1A-001) in steel, a platinum (reference&nbsp; 5822P-001) with a grand date with day and moonphase displays, and a third (reference 5821\/1AR-001) &#8211;&nbsp; a two-tone steel and rose-gold model with the classic navy blue dial.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30104348\/108049774-1729265417692-thumbnail_5002xv455828541666667-1-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179499\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The platinum 5822P model even featured a new in-house movement including patented mechanisms like the tangential brake and flexible day corrector.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/amz.luxewatches.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/05\/30104533\/a4478c84-460b-4054-b088-247d2237ddea-600x600.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179500\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Market trends<\/h2>\n<p>Despite all the initial scepticism, the Cubitus has become a commercial success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Authorised dealers have reported demand significantly exceeding supply, a common scenario for Patek Philippe&#8217;s sports models.
