Mental health awareness month is as it states, to help share awareness of mental health issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s have a look at the biggest issues that exist around Mental Health today.<\/p>\n
1\/ Stigma, <\/strong>is one of the biggest reasons why people don\u2019t share or talk to others when experiencing mental health issues of any sort, but particularly depression. looking back, when I went through it myself, I didn\u2019t tell anyone for months, I feel sorry for my family and friends as I only answered the phone when I wanted, avoided socialising when I could and didn\u2019t go to church for ages either! I became a bit of a hermit! But eventually I realised that I needed help. I knew I had to reach out to those who cared, but, at the time, I was worried about how they would react and what they would think of me. Then on a particularly dark day, I felt I had no choice, I reached out to a few friends, I came to admit I needed them and couldn\u2019t do this alone. It was hard to describe how I was feeling, as I wasn\u2019t even sure myself, but I got there in the end, and it was a relief. I felt vulnerable and weak, but they didn\u2019t, they weren\u2019t upset, they didn\u2019t disapprove, nor were they ashamed of me. They hugged me and told me they were there for me.<\/p>\nSo I just wanted to say, please reach out. You are not alone; people do understand.
