That\u2019s unacceptable,\u201d said Kreps. \u201cFarmers paid to build this system. Now we\u2019re being blamed for trying to survive without it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He shed light on California\u2019s complex and often politicized water fight \u2014 calling it a \u201cpower struggle dressed up as environmental policy\u201d \u2014 and explained how long-delayed storage infrastructure is leaving both farms and communities vulnerable.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">\ud83c\udf31 Beyond Water: Pistachios on the Rise<\/mark><\/h5>\n<p>Despite the regulatory chaos, Kreps is upbeat about this year\u2019s pistachio crop.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Harvest kicks off in Kern County in late August<\/li>\n<li>Expected to match or exceed the record 1.5 billion-pound harvest<\/li>\n<li>Global demand is booming, with strong growth in India, Brazil, and South Korea<\/li>\n<li>Pistachios offer complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids \u2014 \u201clike steak or eggs,\u201d Kreps notes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cPistachio green is even trending in fashion,\u201d he jokes. \u201cWe\u2019ll take it!\u201d<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">\ud83d\udca1 On Public Awareness &amp; Education<\/mark><\/h5>\n<p>Kreps is passionate about educating consumers \u2014 especially urban Californians \u2014 about where their food comes from and the true impact of policy decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople think farmers are greedy.
