<\/figure>\nToday, I want to give voice to something that\u2019s rarely talked about.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a hidden ache that surfaces during high-celebration months \u2014 and May is one of them.<\/p>\n
Graduations, Mother\u2019s Day, award ceremonies, weddings, and seasonal gatherings can be incredibly painful when life doesn\u2019t look the way you imagined it would.<\/strong><\/p>\n Maybe your story carries the quiet weight of loss, strained relationships, financial hardship, health challenges, or unspoken trauma, the kind of pain that whispers, \u2018It wasn\u2019t supposed to be like this<\/em>\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n And now May has arrived \u2014 a month that highlights milestones \u2014 and with it, a fresh wave of grief. These events can pull you deep into what\u00a0should have been<\/em>.<\/p>\n I\u2019ll never forget the gut-wrenching pain of watching smiling teens in prom attire gathering for photos with their parents in our neighborhood in 2022. That seemingly ordinary moment landed heavier than expected, making the gap in my reality feel vast, and the heartbreak nearly impossible to hold.<\/p>\n When I finally made it through that two-year family crisis, I promised myself something:<\/p>\n Because the pain of \u201cthis isn\u2019t how it\u2019s supposed to be<\/em>\u201d often has nowhere to go.\u00a0It\u2019s not something we can easily explain or even say out loud.\u00a0<\/p>\n And the loneliness of it can be the most isolating part.<\/p>\n So, over the past few days, I\u2019ve done my best to give that pain some words. What follows is a poem I wrote from that tender place \u2014 for anyone carrying quiet sorrow in a season of celebration. It\u2019s for the ones smiling through tears, staying home from the gathering, or simply trying to make it through the month.<\/p>\n A May Blessing for Hidden Hurt<\/strong> May you proceed knowing that your story is sacred\u2014 May you give yourself permission to feel, And when sadness rises again, as it will, In your brave release of\u00a0\u201cwhat should be\u201d<\/em>, My hand in yours, AN INVITATION\u2026 <\/p>\n One of the most profound lessons I learned while supporting my family during a challenging season was this:\u00a0I am a worthy recipient of my own caregiving.<\/strong><\/p>\n As givers, we often show up for others, pouring our energy into helping them heal and grow.
