This week has been one of those wonderful weeks when …. Nothing happened.

You should know by now that those are the kind of weeks that I like – incident free, panic-free, worry-free, food-full.

Of course, the human pup is still away – but that is something I could say most weeks. I have noticed that quite a few of the neighbours have gone away – judging by the absence of camper vans (what strange vehicles they are; it seems that they are most commonly owned by the tofu and sandals brigade … and No, that is not a recipe.)

So, it’s been quiet here – apart, of the course, from the sounds of modern, powered gardening equipment. There is a long list of modern technology that I don’t like and think should be banned – and the leaf blower is top of that list. It seems pointless to blow leaves into a pile and then wait for the natural winds to disperse the pile once again.

Still, on my list of things going wrong or things annoying me, the leaf blower is still well down the overall list – which includes actions that should be designated as criminal, such as changing the recipe for any of my favourite treats.

But, as I say, none of these happened this week (so far). Those of you who know me will recognise the trace of my anxiety disorder – though the vet says I am in good physical condition, my mental state is …. Unstable. I even worry about having nothing to worry about – fearing that this peaceful state is just a precursor to terror being unleashed – what human beans refer to as ‘the calm before the storm’.

So, I can never be truly happy or completely worry-free.

My beans, think I just need to ‘pull myself together’. This is unfair and possibly dangerous advice to give, tending to accelerate the spiral of mental decline.

Now look what you haver made me do. I started this blog post in good spirits but it has been taken over by evil spirits.

I’m sorry but I have to go in the kitchen and tremble.
