After a string of stellar EPs and singles in recent years, the band released a full-length album that pays tribute to the heritage of their hometown with a bright and invigorating set of new tunes that showcases a formula the band has honed to perfection \u2013 clean, resonant guitar tones and soaring melodies propelled by tight, progressive arrangements. Her third Gondwana album entitled <strong><em>Constellation <\/em><\/strong>is an imaginative and refreshing blend of folk, jazz, and atmospheric pop brought to life by Rose on piano, vocals, &amp; guitar accompanied by drummer <strong>Alan Taylor<\/strong>, bassist <strong>Gavin Barras<\/strong>, and featuring <strong>Jordan Smart<\/strong> of <strong>Mammal Hands<\/strong> on saxophone (along with a few other guest contributors). Silberman has expressed that he thinkg the band \u201ccaptures the feeling of the open desert without relying on its usual stylistic signatures\u201d and the rustic but expansive sonic vistas painted on the canvas of <strong><em>Selected Jambient Works, Vol. 1<\/em><\/strong> leave little room for doubt on that score. Calling it \u201cjambient\u201d is more than just clever wordplay \u2013 the roots of the project stretch back across more than 10 years going back to ambient-oriented jam sessions where the 3 musicians would get together every few months and improvise for hours on end. On his third solo album\u00a0<strong><em>Soft Power<\/em><\/strong>, Feinberg<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>cleverly deploys a term most of us associate with geopolitics in a musical context and then epitomizes the idea with an inviting set of colorful tunes and lively improvisations that makes it easy for listeners to embrace. The album features guest appearances throughout by\u00a0<strong>Mary Lattimore, David Moore (Bing &amp; Ruth)\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jefre Cantu-Ledesma,<\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<strong>David Lackner<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Robbie Lee<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Russell Greenberg<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Britt Hewitt<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>John Thayer<\/strong>. It turns out there was much more to come from the sessions that gave us <strong><em>Love in the Void <\/em><\/strong>and that manifested itself in this beautiful follow up release which includes four songs that did not appear on the original album along with four new pieces they were inspired to create. Byrd describes <strong><em>From the Void<\/em><\/strong> as both a\u00a0\u201cbridge between LITV and our next LP, as well as a nice stand-alone document of music\u201d. When they went into the studio in late 2022 still buzzing from those sessions, the group set out to record an album that captured their live sound better than any that had come before it. <strong><em>Five<\/em><\/strong> is that record and it veritably roars and incandesces with the potency of an inspired live performance throughout. That said, this is no aimless jamming.
