Rodney Uhler of GKIDS and Jason Bressand of Goodfellas Animation were responsible for negotiating this exciting deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain \/ Am\u00e9lie et la m\u00e9taphysique des tubes (2025) - Trailer [...]\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-k0jMFivyT8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/><span id=\"more-22529\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The upcoming film marks the feature directorial debut of Ma\u00eflys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han, artists who previously collaborated on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calamity <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and are credited for<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I Lost My Body<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long Way North<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, respectively. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is set to make its next appearance at the 2025 Annecy Festival as another official selection, followed by a North American theatrical release at a later date this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The story\u2019s animated adaptation is based on its novel counterpart from Am\u00e9lie Nothomb. Directors Mailys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han have brought their experience in animation to develop an original style for the film that brings the story\u2019s humanistic themes to life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Little Am\u00e9lie or The Character of Rain <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">follows Am\u00e9lie,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for whom the world is a complex yet untroubled mystery<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">until she tastes chocolate for the first time, unlocking her endless curiosity. At the same time, Am\u00e9lie bonds closely with Nishio-san, her family\u2019s housekeeper, while discovering the marvels of nature and uncovering the hidden truths of her family\u2019s lifestyle living in post-war Japan as foreigners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe emotional intelligence and visual creativity of Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain stunned us,\u201d GKIDS\u2019 Director of Acquisitions and Development, Rodney Uhler, stated. \u201cThe film is an engrossing story of how a young person grapples with the confusing reality of the world she\u2019s brought into, but her discoveries will resonate with audiences of every age. The film feels like a beautiful gift from Vallade, Han and their team, and we cannot wait for audiences to discover its magic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently making its rounds in multiple film festivals and competitions, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been produced by Nidia Santiago, Edwina Liard, Claire La Combe and Henri Magalon, with Liane-Cho Han and Ma\u00eflys Vallade additionally serving as screenwriters alongside Aude Py, with art direction by Eddine No\u00ebl and editing by Ludovic Versace.
