At one point, Noah is told to build an ark. Later, Moses receives the Law at Sinai. Still later, Jesus preaches grace and the coming Kingdom of God. This naturally raises a thoughtful question for many believers: <em data-start=\"484\" data-end=\"570\">Why do God\u2019s instructions seem to change? And how should we understand these shifts?<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"612\">Same God, Different Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"901\">First, it\u2019s important to affirm that <strong data-start=\"651\" data-end=\"680\">God Himself never changes<\/strong> (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). His nature, character, and purpose remain consistent throughout all of history. But within His unchanging plan, He gives different responsibilities to people at different times. For instance:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1309\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1026\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"1026\"><strong data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"921\">Adam and Eve<\/strong> were commanded not to eat from a specific tree\u2014an instruction that doesn\u2019t apply to anyone else today.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1126\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1126\"><strong data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1037\">Noah<\/strong> was told to build an ark and gather animals\u2014again, a unique command for a unique time.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1220\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1220\"><strong data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1139\">Israel<\/strong> was given the Law with detailed regulations for worship, diet, and daily life.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1309\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1309\"><strong data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1237\">The Church<\/strong> is now called to live by grace through faith, not under the Mosaic Law.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1443\">These examples show that <strong data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1442\">God communicates instructions that fit the time, people, and purpose within His larger redemptive plan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1471\">Progressive Revelation<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1740\">One helpful concept is \u201cprogressive revelation.\u201d This means that God didn\u2019t reveal His full plan all at once but unfolded it gradually. As history moved forward, God revealed more of His will and purpose\u2014culminating in the coming of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"1929\">What once was appropriate\u2014like offering animal sacrifices\u2014is no longer needed because Christ became the final sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10). The shift isn\u2019t a contradiction; it\u2019s fulfillment.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"1949\">Context Is Key<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"2027\">Understanding these changes helps us read the Bible in context.
