Japanese model and actress Konatsu Kato said there were days where she felt like she was “losing her mind” portraying protagonist Hinako Shimizu in the upcoming Silent Hill F.

Writing on Instagram, the star confirmed that she’s spent a “really long time in the world of Silent Hill” to shoot the role. “I think it was an important time to create this piece,” she continued.

The story has been penned by iconic Japanese scribe Ryukishi07, who’s perhaps best known for writing a series of murder mystery visuals novels, known as the When They Cry series. Some of these have been ported to PlayStation platforms like the PS2 and PS4, but if you want to play them in English, your best bet these days is probably on PC.

As for the plot of Silent Hill F, it takes place in 1960s Japan, specifically Kanayama. Ryukishi07 himself has said that he wants to find the “beauty in terror”, and he’s also alluded to the fact that previous Silent Hills often focused on the suffering of women, so he wanted to create a female protagonist who actively makes her own choices, rather than simply being pulled along by the plot.
