Elon Musk is taking his feud<\/a> with President Donald Trump a step further, posting on X that the reason the Jeffrey Epstein files haven\u2019t been released is because Trump is in them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cTime to drop the really big bomb,\u201d Musk posted Thursday afternoon on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter. \u201d[Trump] is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHave a nice day, DJT!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Epstein was a financier who died in prison while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges in 2019. In February, the White House promised to release a trove of documents related to the case, but what was ultimately released was largely already known<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The billionaire\u2019s \u201creally big bomb\u201d may be more of a dud. It\u2019s long been reported that Trump was on Epstein\u2019s flight logs. But Musk\u2019s post still signals an escalation in his sudden about-turn with Trump.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The two seemed to enjoy a honeymoon period as Musk ripped apart<\/a> the federal government<\/a> as the head of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency. But on Thursday the two traded barbs after Musk criticized Trump\u2019s so-called Big Beautiful Bill, a spending measure that would cut Medicaid benefits and extend tax cuts for the wealthy. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The name-calling has only escalated since Thursday morning. Trump threatened to terminate Musk\u2019s government contracts in a Truth Social post.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon\u2019s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,\u201d Trump posted. \u201cI was always surprised that Biden didn\u2019t do it!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cGo ahead, make my day …\u201d Musk posted on X in response.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Musk then accused Trump of covering up the Epstein files.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cMark this post for the future,\u201d Musk said in a followup<\/a>. \u201cThe truth will come out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Later on Thursday afternoon, Trump responded to Musk by defending his bill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI don\u2019t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,\u201d Trump posted<\/a> in part.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but last year Trump denied the previous Epstein associations. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI was never on Epstein\u2019s Plane, or at his \u2018stupid\u2019 Island,\u201d he wrote in Truth Social post<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
