{"id":272139,"date":"2025-06-04T06:12:33","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T06:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/alabama\/rick-pate-launches-campaign-for-lieutenant-governor\/"},"modified":"2025-06-04T06:12:33","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T06:12:33","slug":"rick-pate-launches-campaign-for-lieutenant-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=272139","title":{"rendered":"Rick Pate launches campaign for lieutenant governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Republican Rick Pate, Alabama\u2019s commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, announced Monday that he will run for Lieutenant Governor in the 2026 election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve spent my life working the land, running a business, and serving my neighbors,\u201d said Pate. \u201cAs Lieutenant Governor, I\u2019ll bring that same hands-on leadership to supporting President Trump and Coach Tuberville in advancing the American First Agenda\u2014so Alabama stays a place where families thrive, agriculture prospers, and conservative values lead the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pate is term-limited as Agriculture commissioner and said he hopes to continue his public service by advocating for farmers, small businesses, rural communities and veterans.<\/p>\n<p>Pate grew up on his family\u2019s cattle farm in Lowndes County. He earned a degree in horticulture from Auburn University in 1978, and founded Pate Landscape Co., which he operated for 38 years. He served as mayor of Lowndesboro for 14 years before being elected Agriculture commissioner in 2018. He was re-elected without major party opposition in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure as commissioner, Pate launched the \u201cSweet Grown Alabama\u201d branding program to promote local agricultural products, expanded the state\u2019s Farm-to-School initiative, and led the \u201cThank a Farmer\u201d campaign to increase public appreciation for farmers. He also oversaw the opening of a new Pesticide Residue Lab in Auburn and secured funding to support Alabama\u2019s meat and poultry inspection programs.<\/p>\n<p>Pate has served as the president of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture, and he was elected as an RNC delegate and one of the nine Alabama Electoral College electors for President Trump in both 2020 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFood security is national security,\u201d Pate emphasized. \u201cOur farmers are frontline workers and often underappreciated, and I\u2019m committed to ensuring they have the support they need to feed Alabama and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad-wrap\"><span class=\"zox-ad-label\">Advertisement.
