Relax the hand. Take the index finger of your other hand and push on the fleshy area between the thumb and the base of the palm. <br \/>Make sure your hand is relaxed. This is what <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">raw meat<\/span><\/strong> feels like.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Press the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb. <br \/>The fleshy area below the thumb should give quite a bit. This is what meat that is cooked to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>rare<\/strong> <\/span>feels like.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Gently press the tip of your middle finger to the tip of your thumb. <br \/>The fleshy area below the thumb should give a little more; this is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>medium rare<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Gently press the tip of your ring finger and your thumb together.<br \/>The flesh beneath the thumb should give a little more; this is what meat cooked to a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>medium <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">doneness<\/span><\/span> feels like.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Gently press the tip of your pinky and your thumb together.<br \/>The fleshy area below the thumb.
