IndiGo has doubled its commitment to the Airbus A350-900, placing a firm order for 30 additional wide-body aircraft. This brings the airline\u2019s total confirmed A350 order to 60.<\/p>\n

The announcement came on June 2 during the IATA Annual General Meeting in Delhi. IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers described<\/a> the move as a \u201cstrategic step\u201d in advancing the airline\u2019s long-haul ambitions. The latest order builds on IndiGo\u2019s 2023 agreement for 30 A350s, which also included purchase rights for 70 more. With this latest decision, IndiGo is converting 30 of those options into firm orders, further strengthening its future wide-body fleet.<\/p>\n

The airline expects to receive its first A350 in 2027. Deliveries of the initial 30 aircraft will continue through the early 2030s, with the additional 30 arriving afterward.<\/p>\n

While a detailed deployment plan for the A350s has yet to be revealed, Elbers noted that initial routes would likely include European destinations, with other regions also under consideration.
Even before the A350s enter service, IndiGo is moving forward with its long-haul plans. In July, the airline will launch flights from Delhi to Amsterdam and Manchester, operated by wet-leased Boeing 787-9s from Norse Atlantic Airways.<\/a><\/p>\n
