At a recent industry event animator Yibi Hu, founder of the animation studio Future Power Station, explained the importance of crafting a great pitch.

As Yibi Hu put it: “Pitch is a Bitch” – in essence a huge amount of unpaid work for a client who might – or might not – like your work.

The conundrum is that you have to pitch to get the job, but all the work might be in vain. Pitching is free work, but you have to do it anyway.

Art of The Pitch

Pitching is part of the ongoing business of any animation enterprise – trying out new ideas, bringing in new business from doubtful clients who already have a lot of options.

Every Film Starts with a Pitch

Pitching is risky, expensive and uncertain – but a necessary part of any animation business. Which is why, at Escape Studios, all our students learn to pitch their ideas to their peers – and win them over to their vision. Winning projects go on to become successful award-winning films. And every single film starts with a pitch.
