Two sustained serious injuries, including one child.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny Sims, Merseyside Police assistant chief constable, told a press conference: \u201cWe believe this to be an isolated incident and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to it. The incident is not being treated as terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said extensive inquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision, adding it was vital people did not speculate or spread misinformation on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of thousands of Liverpool FC fans had gathered in Liverpool on Monday to celebrate their club <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/84f23dc9-4227-489a-9519-690e57bcd1c6\" data-trackable=\"link\">winning the Premier League<\/a>, the top tier of English football.<\/p>\n<p>An open top bus carrying the club\u2019s players paraded through the city over a 10-mile route for several hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The collision between the car and pedestrians took place as the event drew to a close, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said they found four people trapped beneath the vehicle, including one child.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer earlier described the scenes at the incident as \u201cappalling\u201d and said his thoughts were with \u201call those injured or affected\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool FC said the club\u2019s \u201cthoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Rotheram, mayor of Liverpool city region, said: \u201cOur hearts go out to all of those affected\u2009.\u2009.\u2009.
