In 2023, he made his political comeback as foreign secretary under Rishi Sunak and was made a life peer. Now, Cameron could be adding a consultancy role at DLA Piper to his CV.<\/p>\n<p>This would be the latest of the former PM\u2019s advisory roles. He currently advises multiple businesses in the financial sector, including hedge fund Caxton and freight payments business PayCargo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-single-post__section c-single-post__notice c-single-post__notice--emphasised\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legalcheek.com\/the-firms-most-list\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">The 2025\u00a0<strong><em>Legal Cheek<\/em> Firms Most List<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<p>DLA told <em>Legal Cheek<\/em> it \u201cwill not be commenting on the news at this time\u201d, following this morning\u2019s <em>Financial Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/4453ceb5-020e-4578-bd46-eab47236ef22\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a> (\u00a3) which reported that \u201cdiscussions were under way\u201d and that Cameron could \u201cplay an important role advising [the firm] on different geographies and geopolitical risks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Because he only left government in July 2024, Cameron would need approval from a government advisory body to join DLA Piper. Rules around privileged information mean officials like Cameron need clearance from the body before they are free to take jobs outside government for two years. Though the body can\u2019t block appointments, it can advise the government against allowing them.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v2.2\" async><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New role for former Prime Minister?
