August Blaq

He starts the project right away with “Air,” the first track, which has a strong bounce mixed with intensity. His performance has a mystical quality, as if he is giving every syllable life. He expresses liberation among vibrant instrumentals and pounding drums, not just from difficulty but from the boundaries of stillness. His voice has a deliberate weight, facing inner conflicts and underlining his resilience under trying circumstances. The start is arresting and sets the tone for the trip that lies ahead: music motivated by a goal.

Track two, “Dead Sea,” explores darker territory. The pace eases, the words deepen, and August Blaq‘s performance adopts a more meditative, somewhat ghostly air. Here, the production embraces eerie melodies and minimal rhythms so that his message’s authenticity can take centre stage. Subjects seldom spoke so freely in the field of commercial Afrobeat; the single explores issues of inner struggle, betrayal, and spiritual strife. It underscores August Blaq’s commitment to confronting serious issues alongside his desire for entertainment.

A blend of Pidgin, Twi, and English.

“Imargine,” a fantastic song emphasising August Blaq’s poetic ability and creative soundscapes, comes next. With deliberate misspelt, the title represents his rejection of conventional limitations. Dreamers will find resonance in this song created by the skilful blending of Pidgin, Twi, and English. Blaq invites his audience to see a better future, a new world free of corruption, jealousy, and fear, by presenting a hook that looks exactly suited for live events. The combination of lively highlife guitar riffs and laid-back percussion creates an enticing rhythm that lets even the deepest truths be readily consumed.

“Red Sea” is the amazing ending of the EP that speaks as a blessing as much as a war cry. August Blaq really shows here the depth of his creative and emotional expression. As he delivers songs loaded with resistance and drive, striking brass notes entwine with mesmerising backing vocals. His voice radiates an unbroken soul, a genuine fire. He says with unflinching certainty, “My enemies shall not prevail,” turning suffering into strength and harmony into a great declaration.

Every song speaks to a level of artistic quality derived from real events and polished by a sincere need for acceptance. August Blaq represents not just the Tema spirit but also the resiliency of every young African voice using music as their weapon to combat hardship.

August Blaq is bent on changing the terrain, not trying to fit with the help of communal love, cultural pride, and raw poetic genius. His Messengers Messages is just the beginning of what promises to be a great climb, with so much music, events, and untold stories on the horizon.

Listen HERE
