{"id":253551,"date":"2025-05-23T10:07:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T10:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/what-happened-and-who-were-the-victims\/"},"modified":"2025-05-23T10:07:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T10:07:07","slug":"what-happened-and-who-were-the-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=253551","title":{"rendered":"what happened and who were the victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation after a Cessna S550 Citation S\/II crashed into a residential community in San Diego, US.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/tag\/ntsb\" title=\"\">NTSB<\/a> investigators at the crash site, the Cessna, registered N666DS, appeared to strike two power lines as it was approaching Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport (MYF) on May 22, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Details surrounding the number of victims remains unclear, but the San Diego Police Department has confirmed that at least two people have died, both apparently on the plane.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>Separately, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that there were six people on board the aircraft when it crashed at around 03:45.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crews from the San Diego Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the scene after the aircraft crashed into a house on the 3100 block on Salmon Road.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Six presumed killed when small plane crashes into military homes in Murphy Canyon neighborhood in San Diego <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LIwKSYRh7G\">pic.twitter.com\/LIwKSYRh7G<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nelvin Cepeda (@NelCepeda) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NelCepeda\/status\/1925701697457783217?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Local media reported that half a dozen vehicles had been set on fire in an explosion when the aircraft impacted with the ground.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>Two people were treated for minor injuries and subsequently released at the scene, while six more needed medical treatment, according to local police. There were also reports that several houses were damaged in the incident.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the tragedy, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria wrote: \u201cAt the site of the plane crash in Murphy Canyon, I saw firsthand the quick, coordinated work of our first responders. Their actions saved lives. My heart is with the families of those aboard the plane. To the residents whose lives have been upended, your city Is here for you.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"where-was-the-cessna-s550-flying-from\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where was the Cessna S550 flying from?<\/h2>\n<p>The Cessna S550 Citation\u2019s journey began at Teterboro Airport (TEB) on May 21, 2025, at 23:15, when it flew to Wichita Colonel James Jabara Airport (QNO). The aircraft landed shortly before 01:50, refueled and departed at 02:35.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-3\"\/>\n<p>The NTSB investigation is ongoing, but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsandiego.com\/\" title=\"\">NBC San Diego<\/a>, the airport was foggy at around the time of the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Unbelievable moments caught on doorbell cams during the San Diego plane crash. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today\u2019s tragedy,\u201d said a spokesperson for Sound Talent Group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c0mr844xl42o\" title=\"\">BBC<\/a>, the agency said that, including Shapiro, it lost \u201cthree employees in the plane crash\u201d.
