Their extraordinary commitment has earned them the heartfelt title of \u201cangels on Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bones\u2019 journey began with their biological son, GriffIn. Griffin was born with a serious heart condition that required open-heart surgery when he was only three months old. The young couple quickly found themselves spending endless days and nights in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childrenshospitalvanderbilt.org\/\">Vanderbilt Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a>, navigating a world of uncertainty and intensive medical care.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It was during these difficult times that Caleb and Ruchala\u2019s eyes were opened to a painful reality: many children in the foster system were facing similar \u2014 and often more severe \u2014 medical battles, without the stability and comfort of a permanent family.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing the need firsthand sparked something within them. As they endured hospital stays with Griffin, they realized they could extend their compassion and care to other children enduring similar struggles. Whether driven by faith, compassion, or an unwavering moral duty, the Bones felt a clear calling to open their hearts and home to medically fragile foster children.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, they welcomed their first adopted child, Maurice, into their family. Maurice, a little boy requiring a kidney transplant, joined the Bones\u2019 growing household and quickly became a cherished sibling. In a segment captured by News Channel 5, Maurice was shown full of life and energy, joyfully exploring the court hallways alongside his new brothers and sisters on the day his adoption was finalized.<\/p>\n<p>The family\u2019s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Suzanne Jones, director of the foster program <a href=\"https:\/\/youthvillages.org\/\">Youth Villages<\/a>, praised the couple\u2019s unwavering commitment to fostering medically complex children, stating, <em><strong>\u201cThey are just the best kinds of people. Foster parents have to go through training at the hospital, so sometimes that can be daunting. They have to go through the full medical training to know how to care for their medically needy child.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jones\u2019 admiration is echoed by many who\u2019ve watched the Bones embrace challenge after challenge with compassion and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the couple celebrated another milestone: the adoption of Isabella, their fourth child, whose early life has also been marked by serious health issues. Isabella came to the Bones at just five months old, having already undergone open-heart surgery.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Tennessee\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidcentraltn.com\/health\/insurance\/tenncare.html\">TennCare program<\/a>, the ongoing medical needs of the children are covered, and the family also receives foster parent stipends and additional support to help manage the demands of caring for multiple children with special health needs.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on their unique family and the road they\u2019ve chosen, Ruchala humbly shared with Channel 5, <em><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t know if we\u2019d say we feel chosen or we\u2019re the right people, but we said yes.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> That simple, powerful \u201cyes\u201d has transformed the lives of four vulnerable children and inspired countless others.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Bone household is not only a bustling, love-filled home but a testament to the transformative power of compassion and courage.
