As it looks to increase operational efficiency, Walmart<\/a> announced that it will be cutting around 1,500 corporate jobs.<\/p>\n

The layoffs will mainly impact the Walmart Global Tech division, its Walmart Connect<\/a> advertising business, and its ecommerce fulfillment team for U.S. stores.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a memo sent to employees and viewed by Reuters<\/a>, the company said that in order to \u201caccelerate our progress delivering the experiences that will define the future of retail, we must sharpen our focus.\u201d<\/p>\n

The retailer added that it wanted to do away with layers and complexity, accelerate decision-making, and help its employees innovate rapidly.<\/p>\n

Walmart, which earned $4.4 billion during its most recent quarter, has around 1.6 million employees, making it the nation\u2019s largest private retailer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Based in Bentonville, Ark., Walmart also expects to raise prices<\/a> on most of its products as a result of the recent tariffs imposed by the administration of President Donald Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n
