It was a sunny Saturday afternoon on that faithful day, 28th December 2024, when news broke that Asake has parted ways with Olamide and the YBNL brand 😲😲

The announcement shocked fans across the country. Asake, one of the hottest acts in Nigeria, was no longer affiliated with the same label that brought him to the limelight. What could have gone wrong?

Asake left YBNL with all his Masters – This rarely happens

Considering the years Asake has spent in the Industry doing everything possible trying to blow, but didn’t succeed and then he met Olamide and he blew up within the shortest period of time.

One would argue that Asake will exit YBNL so soon but no issue, it’s all part of the game.

As part of the termination agreement, Asake was allowed to leave with the masters to all his songs recorded under YBNL — a rare and generous gesture in the music industry.

This kind of deal shows the level of respect Olamide has for his artists, even in separation.

He left YBNL just immediately after dropping “Lungu Boy” – the buzz was poor

""

The exit happened just a few months after Asake dropped his album “Lungu Boy,” which came with massive anticipation and hype.

Sadly, the album didn’t do well as expected, unlike his first Album under YBNL – “Mr. Money With The Vibe“… That Album shook the whole world — maybe the beginning of the drop?

Instagram Wipeout – Even Olamide Got Unfollowed 🤮🤮

After the announcement, Asake did something unexpected. He unfollowed everyone on Instagram, including Olamide. That move raised a lot of eyebrows.

""

Was there more to the breakup than we were told?

Olamide’s Mature Response

Meanwhile, Olamide stayed classy. Speaking on the situation, he reportedly said:

“I didn’t create YBNL because I wanted to make money. I created it because I wanted to see other young people grow, so if any artist under me wants to leave, they are free”.

That’s pure boss energy. No drama. No shade. Just growth.

Four Months Later – Asake’s Buzz Has Dropped

Fast forward to today — 4 months since the split, and let’s be real, the buzz around Asake has reduced drastically.

No major banger, no viral presence, no big shows or moves like before. Even fans are starting to whisper: “Hope he’s not losing steam?”

From Everywhere to Almost Nowhere 😢

""

Remember when Asake was literally everywhere? Topping charts, trending on socials, shutting down arenas abroad — man was on fire! But now, the energy is just… low.

Yes, transitioning from a big label to being independent takes time, but if this is what 4 months looks like, what will 1 year bring?

Over to you…
