clearfix\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In December, the California Supreme Court declined to review a decision by the Commission on Judicial Performance to remove a judge for misconduct that took the CJP <a href=\"https:\/\/cjp.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/05\/Inq.-208-Mallery-Tony-R-Decision-and-Order-05-02-24.pdf\">114 pages to explain<\/a>. This might be worth a full article, but right now I can only give you the lowlights. While the judge was being investigated for asking parties about their \u201cchurchgoing habits\u201d (already not good), he ran a counter-investigation to find out whether court employees were cooperating, saying he was looking for \u201cmoles\u201d and that people who \u201cratted\u201d might get \u201cwhat\u2019s coming to them.\u201d He also tried to \u201cput a stop to plea bargaining,\u201d had a generally \u201cdysfunctional relationship\u201d with staff and attorneys who appeared before him regularly, and had a habit of \u201cacting inappropriately,\u201d the CJP wrote, including \u201crepeatedly referring to one Hawaiian staff member as \u2018Queen Latifah.’\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queen_Latifah\">Queen Latifah is from New Jersey<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Who among us <em>hasn\u2019t<\/em> fled from officers of one police department only to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2024\/11\/22\/man-run-phoenix-pd-tries-hiding-tempe-police-hq-unsuccessfully\/\">drive unwittingly into the parking garage of a different police department<\/a>? Of course at that point you have only two options: (1) give up, or (2) jump off the second floor of the parking garage. I\u2019m not here to tell you what to do. Well, I am, but I have sort of a conflict of interest here because jumping is funnier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Or have you considered a disguise? Wigs are sometimes an option but do little to obscure, let\u2019s say, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c04ln09y5peo\">an extremely distinctive neck tattoo<\/a>. Did I say \u201clittle\u201d? I meant \u201cnothing.\u201d What\u2019s that? You made yourself a neck wig? I\u2019m going to change the subject now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A driver in British Columbia <a href=\"https:\/\/cheknews.ca\/driver-in-qualicum-beach-trying-to-stop-suspected-impaired-driver-found-to-be-intoxicated-rcmp-1231991\/\">tried to do the right thing on New Year\u2019s Eve<\/a> by calling police to report another driver he thought might be impaired. But officers then smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver who was trying to stop the other driver from driving, and he failed a breath test so they stopped him from driving instead. took the CJP <a href=\"https:\/\/cjp.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/05\/Inq.-208-Mallery-Tony-R-Decision-and-Order-05-02-24.pdf\">114 pages to explain<\/a>. This might be worth a full article, but right now I can only give you the lowlights. While the judge was being investigated for asking parties about their \u201cchurchgoing habits\u201d (already not good), he ran a counter-investigation to find out whether court employees were cooperating, saying he was looking for \u201cmoles\u201d and that people who \u201cratted\u201d might get \u201cwhat\u2019s coming to them.\u201d He also tried to \u201cput a stop to plea bargaining,\u201d had a generally \u201cdysfunctional relationship\u201d with staff and attorneys who appeared before him regularly, and had a habit of \u201cacting inappropriately,\u201d the CJP wrote, including \u201crepeatedly referring to one Hawaiian staff member as \u2018Queen Latifah.’\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queen_Latifah\">Queen Latifah is from New Jersey<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Who among us <em>hasn\u2019t<\/em> fled from officers of one police department only to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2024\/11\/22\/man-run-phoenix-pd-tries-hiding-tempe-police-hq-unsuccessfully\/\">drive unwittingly into the parking garage of a different police department<\/a>? Of course at that point you have only two options: (1) give up, or (2) jump off the second floor of the parking garage. I\u2019m not here to tell you what to do. Well, I am, but I have sort of a conflict of interest here because jumping is funnier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Or have you considered a disguise? Wigs are sometimes an option but do little to obscure, let\u2019s say, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c04ln09y5peo\">an extremely distinctive neck tattoo<\/a>. Did I say \u201clittle\u201d? I meant \u201cnothing.\u201d What\u2019s that? You made yourself a neck wig? I\u2019m going to change the subject now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A driver in British Columbia <a href=\"https:\/\/cheknews.ca\/driver-in-qualicum-beach-trying-to-stop-suspected-impaired-driver-found-to-be-intoxicated-rcmp-1231991\/\">tried to do the right thing on New Year\u2019s Eve<\/a> by calling police to report another driver he thought might be impaired. But officers then smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver who was trying to stop the other driver from driving, and he failed a breath test so they stopped him from driving instead.
