If you eradicate the dance part of Afrobeats for the viby sound, you&#8217;re killing Afrobeats,&#8221; <\/i>Orezi said. <\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;If all the groovy Afrobeats songs are replaced with vibes, what will be dancing to in clubs and parties?&#8221; <\/i>he added on the change in Afrobeats&#8217; sonic direction. <\/p>\n<p>Orezi&#8217;s claims are likely connected to the switch in the approach to Afrobeats music, which has grown to embrace more foreign elements in a bid to satisfy the needs of a growing global audience. <\/p>\n<p>While the industry has consistently had mid-tempo music,  <a target=\"_self\" class=\"editor-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pulse.ng\/articles\/entertainment\/music\/world-international-youth-day-2023-artistes-taking-afrobeats-to-the-world-2024072615563310891\">the &#8220;Afrobeats to the world&#8221; era <\/a>might have further amplified this type of music thanks to the success of <a target=\"_self\" class=\"editor-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pulse.ng\/articles\/entertainment\/music\/11-milestones-accomplished-by-wizkids-made-in-lagos-2024092616520224846#:~:text=on%20the%20chart.-,'Made%20In%20Lagos'%20is%20the%20first%20Nigerian%20album%20to%20spend,nomination%20for%20Best%20Global%20Song.\">Wizkid&#8217;s acclaimed Grammy-nominated album<i><strong> &#8216;Made In Lagos&#8217;.<\/strong><\/i><\/a><i><strong> <\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Artists like<strong> Omah Lay<\/strong>, whose poignant pop music gained popularity in 2020, also popularised more somber tunes.<\/p>\n<p>Orezi is one of Afrobeats&#8217; most memorable hitmakers, and his stand speaks to the nature of Afrobeats during his time as one of the <a target=\"_self\" class=\"editor-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pulse.ng\/articles\/entertainment\/music\/big-3-artists-of-the-different-eras-of-afrobeats-from-1999-2024072703465733307\">stars whose music defined the scene.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can watch Orezi&#8217;s full interview on Trending below. <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran Afrobeats star Orezi, in a recent interview on Trending on Hip TV, spoke on why is career took a downward turn.
