About Compagnoni Pass Hike<\/h2>\n

This <\/span>one\u2019s <\/span>not <\/span>for <\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>weak <\/span>of <\/span>quad. <\/span>The <\/span>Compagnoni <\/span>Pass <\/span>Hike <\/span>is <\/span>a <\/span>challenging, <\/span>sweaty, <\/span>occasionally <\/span>swear-<\/span>inducing <\/span>adventure <\/span>through <\/span>the <\/span>guts <\/span>of Kanangra Boyd National Park<\/a><\/span>. The park\u00a0is a large expanse of wild and rugged wilderness on the southern side of the Blue Mountains<\/a> in NSW. The area’s not as readily accessible as other destinations in the surrounding region.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s unspoilt and often possible to walk for days without seeing another group. <\/span>Expect <\/span>sweeping <\/span>views <\/span>of <\/span>rugged <\/span>mountains, <\/span>crystal-<\/span>clear <\/span>rivers, <\/span>and <\/span>more <\/span>photo <\/span>ops <\/span>than <\/span>your <\/span>phone <\/span>storage <\/span>can <\/span>handle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>real <\/span>cherry <\/span>on <\/span>top is the chance to stay in a<\/span>n <\/span>epic <\/span>camp <\/span>cave <\/span>tucked <\/span>beneath <\/span>a <\/span>towering <\/span>cliff <\/span>face <\/span>that <\/span>feels <\/span>straight <\/span>out <\/span>of <\/span>a <\/span>fantasy <\/span>film. <\/span>Whether <\/span>you\u2019re <\/span>here <\/span>to <\/span>bushwalk, <\/span>pitch <\/span>a <\/span>tent <\/span>under <\/span>the <\/span>stars, <\/span>or <\/span>channel <\/span>your <\/span>inner <\/span>landscape <\/span>photographer, <\/span>this <\/span>trail <\/span>delivers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our group of four embarked on a challenging three-day hike incorporating the Kowmung River, Compagnoni Pass and Mt Cloudmaker.<\/p>\n

How To Get to Kanangra Boyd National Park<\/h2>\n

The Compagnoni Pass Hike\u00a0<\/span>begins <\/span>at <\/span>the <\/span>Kanangra <\/span>Walls <\/span>car <\/span>park, <\/span>follows <\/span>the <\/span>Gingra <\/span>Range <\/span>down <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>Kowmung <\/span>River, <\/span>ascends <\/span>via <\/span>Compagnoni <\/span>Pass <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>Ti <\/span>Willa <\/span>Plateau, <\/span>and <\/span>returns <\/span>via <\/span>Mount <\/span>Cloudmaker.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kanangra Walls car park can be reached either by a down and up through Jenolan Caves, or coming in through Oberon. The trail head here is the starting point for many possible adventures. Nearby Boyd River campground<\/a> is a good option to stay in the area, with basic facilities available.<\/p>\n
