The Federal Board of Revenue<\/b><\/strong> FBR is going\u00a0to impose tax on retailers in Pakistan\u2019s five major cities<\/b><\/strong>, as per a report dated January 4.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Those familiar with the decision disclosed that the targeted cities encompass Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar,<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and Quetta.<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0This move is expected to bring in around PKR 100 billion<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in revenue solely from these cities. Furthermore, the FBR<\/b><\/u><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has devised a comprehensive plan to extend taxation to 350,000<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0retailers across the country. Initially, taxes will be imposed on retailers in Islamabad <\/b><\/strong>and the four<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0provincial capitals.<\/h4>\n

FBR is going to impose this tax on retailers so that revenue of over PKR 300 billion <\/b><\/strong>could be generated. Taxes will be calculated based on factors like shop size and annual income, with collections occurring monthly.<\/p>\n
