For <\/span>the<\/span> collaborative bespoke learning programme, \u201cHandling Difficult Situations with Compassion: Caring for yourself and others<\/span><\/span>\u201d<\/span>,<\/span> NHS England and <\/span>escalla<\/span> are finalists<\/span> in<\/span> the \u2018<\/span>Excellence in Public Service HR\u2019<\/span> and<\/span> \u2018<\/span>Learning & Development Award – Larger Employers<\/span>\u2019 categories. Additionally, <\/span>escalla<\/span> has been shortlisted for the \u2018<\/span>L&D Supplier of the Year<\/span>\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\nThe Personnel Today Awards<\/span>, this year in its 26th<\/span><\/span> year,<\/span> celebrate the <\/span>very best<\/span> achievements and innovations in HR and learning and development.<\/span> After receiving a record number of entries, and much deliberation from <\/span>the<\/span> expert judging panel,<\/span> the finalists will meet in London in November at the Awards Ceremony.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n\u2018Handling Difficult Situations with Compassion: Caring for yourself and others\u2019 was \u202fdesigned to give frontline, patient-facing NHS workers the skills and techniques to handle <\/span>difficult situations<\/span> with compassion, including using <\/span>appropriate communication<\/span> techniques and active listening skills. <\/span>Following a successful pilot, during which more than 2400 staff attended a session <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, Phase 2 expanded to train a further 5000 staff<\/span>. Completed in March 2024, t<\/span>he final phase, Phase 3, delivered the original training to a further 1700 participants<\/span>. This phase continued to deliver strong outcomes, with 93.6%<\/span> of participants rating their training experience positively and 91.9% <\/span><\/span>indicating<\/span> they would recommend the training to their colleagues. New components were also introduced to extend the reach and long-term support of NHS staff<\/span>, <\/span>including <\/span>additional<\/span> Train-the-Trainer sessions and eLearning modules to enhance accessibility and flexibility.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\nThe training, which was commissioned by NHS England, was made available to both clinical and non-clinical <\/span>frontline <\/span>NHS colleagues across the country. Colleagues learnt how to manage the rise in aggressive and threatening behaviour, as well as the skills to de-escalate and support patients in distress.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\nDavid Field, MD at\u00a0<\/span>escalla commented, “<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Developing this programme with NHS staff, for NHS staff, has been a huge honour. The programme feedback has been fantastic, with participants not only feeling more confident in the workplace but being able to take those soft skills into their personal lives, too. “<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n\u201cHelping NHS England in supporting staff to feel valued has been a privilege.
