To ensure all publisher contributions were fairly accounted for, Awin and ShareASale helped develop the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iabuk.com\/sites\/default\/files\/IAB%20Performance%20Marketing%20Council%20-%20Downloadable%20Software%20Code%20of%20Conduct%20%28May%202015%29_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">code of conduct<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/What-is-downloadable-software-and-how-can-I-use-it-for-affiliate-marketing?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">downloadable software<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This code of conduct forms part of our\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/Network-s-Guideline-for-Publishers-with-Downloadable-Software-or-Browser-Extension?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">network guidelines<\/a>. Our Compliance team actively monitors all publisher activity against the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/docs.awin.com\/marketing\/HQ\/Code+of+Conduct+-+GB.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Awin Code of Conduct<\/a>\u00a0to ensure compliant activity. We continue to support industry bodies with any required updates to this.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does Awin work with browser extensions?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All publishers that offer browser extensions are required by the\u00a0Awin Code of Conduct\u00a0to declare they do, and where appropriate, be placed on a\u00a0\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/What-is-soft-click-cookie?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">Soft Click cookie status<\/a>. This means the browser extension\u2019s cookies do not override other publisher\/ influencer cookies when tracked through the Awin platform. For more information on the Awin cookie hierarchy please see\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/Awin-s-Cookie-hierarchy?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. All soft click publishers are clearly identified on their profile page within the Awin UI.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>When a publisher is set as a \u201cSoft Click publisher,\u201d the publisher receives commission from the sale generated if that publisher is either the only click within the customer\u2019s purchase journey, or if they are the last click when only another soft click publisher was involved (e.g. another browser extension).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If there is another publisher in the journey that isn\u2019t set to a soft click cookie status, the sale is instead allocated to the \u2018hard click\u2019 publisher who drove the last click.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Offering this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/advertiser-success.awin.com\/s\/article\/Soft-Click?language=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soft Click proposition<\/a>\u00a0allows advertisers to work with partners like browser extensions, without adversely affecting existing publishers\u2019 relationships.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Awin encourages this relationship as part of our policy to ensure fair attribution and recommend it is used alongside <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/Voucher-Attribution?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">coupon attribution<\/a>\u00a0to ensure campaigns are effectively measured. Each advertiser can determine the attribution rules for their program and may choose not to have this proposition in place for their browser extension partners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Commission Factory also offers and recommends the implementation of Soft Click for browser extensions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does ShareASale work with browser extensions?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the ShareASale platform, advertisers can create custom attribution rules using the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.shareasale.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/5377009107991-Conversion-Lines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Conversion Lines<\/a>\u00a0feature to ensure publishers driving the first click aren\u2019t overwritten by incentive partners who drive the last click.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While this approach currently differs from Awin, all ShareASale customers will be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.shareasale.com\/2024\/12\/10\/setting-you-up-for-future-growth-timeline-for-the-upcoming-shareasale-to-awin-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"upgraded to the Awin platform this year (opens in a new tab)\">upgraded to the Awin platform this year<\/a>\u00a0and will benefit from a universal framework.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For ShareASale Conversion Lines support, please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.shareasale.com\/hc\/en-us\/requests\/new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">submit a ticket<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I check what cookie status my browser extension partner is set to?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Advertisers can check if their browser extension partner is using Soft Click by visiting their publisher partner\u2019s profile page on the Awin platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions about your browser extension partners, please speak to your account contact.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fair attribution and safeguarding affiliate tracking<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are many avenues a customer may take before ultimately making a purchase. Understanding which publisher partners contribute the biggest impact, and fairly rewarding them, is essential for an affiliate program\u2019s success.\u00a0Awin advertisers have the flexibility to partner with influencers and other publishers on payment options outside of last click, such as campaign exposure (tenancy) fees and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/success.awin.com\/s\/article\/Voucher-Attribution?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coupon Attribution<\/a>.
