No new investments, I just topped up existing ones.<\/p>\n

I think I need to do an update on my investments at some point (this post<\/a> in particular, as it\u2019s been 4 years). There have been times when I\u2019ve said \u2018no new investments\u2019 when at some point I have made changes but haven\u2019t always remembered to mention them in the blog, as they would have started off as just small tweaks here and there (though quite a few in total).<\/p>\n

Future Fund\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The markets continued their downward spiral but it wasn\u2019t as bad as I thought and my FF ended up at \u00a3295,522.60 <\/strong>by the end of the month.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I received \u00a3529.21<\/strong>, of which \u00a3234.97 <\/strong>was from my ISAs, the rest from my SIPPs. All dividends were reinvested.<\/p>\n

Not Great News<\/strong><\/p>\n

The little old lady who lives next door had a fall, resulting in a short hospital stay. She wasn\u2019t badly hurt but injured her knee, so for a while, she was unable to walk.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s been looked after by her daughter who lives close by and it seems like she may stay there permanently now as she\u2019s still a bit wobbly on her feet and increasingly forgetful \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I popped round for a little chat and she\u2019d forgotten that we\u2019d spoken since the accident because when she saw me, started off with \u201cYou\u2019ll never guess what? I fell down the stairs\u2026\u201d. Bless.<\/p>\n

I wonder what will happen to her house.<\/p>\n

Balls!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want to end this post on a downer so I want to say a big thanks to @TI from Monevator<\/a> \u2013 not only does the website provide sound investing guidance but also gardening tips! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

My houseplants have always had a problem with pesky fungus gnats and TI suggested LECA balls (balls of clay used in place of soil for houseplants).<\/p>\n

This time of year, I\u2019d normally be running around the house with the hand-held Dyson hoovering up clouds of the critters (the ones that haven\u2019t taken a swim in my cup of tea) but having repotted all my plants (some full hydroponic, some balls topping the soil), there has only been the odd sighting of a stray bug or two flying around. I\u2019ve also been encouraged to be more inventive with the plant pots:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A couple of my plants protested at the change to their environment but they seem to be doing ok, although I will continue to monitor.<\/p>\n

The balls aren\u2019t cheap (around \u00a39 for a 2L bucket) but absolutely worth it for the stress-free and bug-free environment!<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I\u2019m now thinking of buying more plants!<\/p>\n
