The pay, $64,650 plus benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The prerequisites: ability to travel, conduct scholarly research focusing on the craft brew industry, along with being able to write for both technical and general audiences.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Craft Brewing In America<\/h2>\n<p>Since the late 1980\u2019s, there\u2019s been a microbrewery renaissance taking hold across the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/eh.net\/encyclopedia\/a-concise-history-of-americas-brewing-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The craft beer industry is a throwback to another time in our history. <\/a> From the mid-1800\u2019s, through to World War 1 and the Prohibition era, there were many small local breweries. Gradually over a period of decades, consolidation greatly reduced their number. By 1940, beer production was restored to its peak level of 1910 but there were only half the number of operating breweries. Consolidation had taken its toll. The American lager\u2014 light in character and flavor\u2014 became the dominant style. The more distinctive brews along with the small breweries that made them, were downed by market forces and government action.<\/p>\n<p>The modern microbrew revolution today is a testament to its earlier history.
