As a kid, I’d always hesitate before dumping them – seemed to me they looked edible. I had good nutritional instincts; pumpkin seeds most certainly are edible, healthy, and delicious! You hardly need a recipe for grilled pumpkins seeds; any caveman can pull it off. But here are some tips and an irresistible recipe from Kevin Haberberger at\u00a0Extraordinary Barbecue.<\/a> \"orange<\/p>\n

Step One: Clean the Pumpkin Seeds<\/h3>\n

Don’t worry, it’s easy. Flouronmyface.com<\/a> has the scoop: “Over the years I have learned a great little trick to get all the stringy pieces of pumpkin pulp off the seeds.\u00a0<\/span>First, clean out the inside of the pumpkin as usual. Put everything seeds and pulp into a very large bowl or pot.\u00a0<\/span>Rinse the seeds and pulp under running water.\u00a0<\/span>Pick out the larger pieces of pumpkin pulp.\u00a0<\/span>Rinse and repeat.\u00a0<\/span>Remove as much of the stringy pumpkin pulp as possible.\u00a0<\/span>Now fill the very deep bowl or pot with water.\u00a0<\/span>The pieces of pumpkin will sink and the pumpkin seeds will float to the top.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Step Two: Soak the Seeds<\/h3>\n

Many nutritionists advise that you’ll reap the maximum health benefits by soaking seeds before grilling them. Again, this is easy. The Pistachio Project<\/a> suggests: “Take your clean pumpkin seeds and place in a bowl. Cover the seeds with warm water and a bit of salt. I do not really measure this but 1 tbs salt for 4 cups water is a good guide if you need one. Let seeds sit at room temperature for 24 hours.\u00a0Drain the water from the pumpkin seeds and allow the seeds to dry on a baking sheet for a few hours.”<\/p>\n
