{"id":237292,"date":"2025-05-11T23:49:01","date_gmt":"2025-05-11T23:49:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/animation\/smart-model-editor-lets-you-model-non-destructively-in-maya\/"},"modified":"2025-05-11T23:49:01","modified_gmt":"2025-05-11T23:49:01","slug":"smart-model-editor-lets-you-model-non-destructively-in-maya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=237292","title":{"rendered":"Smart Model Editor lets you model non-destructively in Maya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Smart Model Editor - The New Era Begins | Autodesk Maya Plugin For Modeling\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/456c5048UZw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Tools developer \u00d6zg\u00fcr Yildirim has released <a href=\"https:\/\/smarteditor.site\/products\" target=\"_blank\">Smart Model Editor<\/a>, a new plugin that lets artists model non-destructively in Maya.<\/p>\n<p>The add-on records the changes an artist makes to a model and displays the commands in a list in the user interface, from where they can be edited independently.<\/p>\n<p>According to Yildirim, users can \u201ctrack and revise each stage of the 3D modeling process\u201d making it possible to work \u201cinteractively, parametrically, and efficiently\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A \u2018properly functioning construction history\u2019 for Maya<\/strong><br \/>Smart Model Editor provides a more intuitive \u2013 and more functional \u2013 alternative to Maya\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/help.autodesk.com\/view\/MAYAUL\/2026\/ENU\/?guid=GUID-503E227B-EF49-4A78-B3CA-7EAC588017C9\" target=\"_blank\">construction history<\/a> when modeling.<\/p>\n<p>Yildirim describes Smart Model Editor as providing a construction history without the \u201cincorrect results [that the native version sometimes produces] during interactive modeling\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The plugin records the changes made to a 3D model, then displays them in a list in the interface akin to the modifier stacks in applications like <a href=\"https:\/\/help.autodesk.com\/view\/3DSMAX\/2026\/ENU\/?guid=GUID-911C535D-9003-4925-A064-52835C581DAA\" target=\"_blank\">3ds Max<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.blender.org\/manual\/en\/latest\/modeling\/modifiers\/introduction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Blender<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Users can step back through the commands in the list, edit the parameter values used, or delete commands entirely, although it isn\u2019t possible to reorder the operations as you can in a conventional modifier stack.<\/p>\n<p>As well as changes directly affecting geometry, the plugin records preliminary steps like setting up reference image planes, and the process of setting up UVs and materials.<\/p>\n<p>When working interactively, Smart Model Editor also adds new marking menus to Maya, providing new options for operations like retopologising a model or creating 3D arrays.<\/p>\n<p>You can see videos of the individual features on the <a href=\"https:\/\/smarteditor.gumroad.com\/l\/smartmodeleditor?layout=profile\" target=\"_blank\">Gumroad page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price and system requirements<\/strong><br \/>Smart Model Editor is compatible with Maya 2024+ on Windows 10+ only. The plugin is available rental-only.
