{"id":236537,"date":"2025-05-11T13:12:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-11T13:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/advertising\/groupm-staff-told-up-to-45-will-be-impacted-by-restructure\/"},"modified":"2025-05-11T13:12:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-11T13:12:16","slug":"groupm-staff-told-up-to-45-will-be-impacted-by-restructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=236537","title":{"rendered":"GroupM Staff Told Up to 45% Will Be Impacted by Restructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sharb Farjami, CEO of GroupM North America, told employees during a company-wide town hall Friday afternoon that a sweeping organizational restructure will \u201cimpact about 40% to 45% of our entire workforce,\u201d according to a recording of an all-hands obtained by ADWEEK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has been a pretty tough week for us,\u201d Farjami said. \u201cThere have been colleagues that have left our business\u2026 It can feel very destabilizing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked what \u2018impacted\u2019 meant, a GroupM spokesperson said the 40%-45% figure \u201cdoes not refer to people who are departing the business\u201d but \u201cis in reference to how we\u2019re bringing teams together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also clarified that the figure refers to U.S.-based employees specifically. They declined to comment on whether the shift will include future layoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The new department\u2014Media Management and Delivery, or MMD\u2014will absorb investment, Nexus, and campaign reporting functions into a unified division. The leaders at the meeting did not clarify whether the impacted roles would include layoffs, reassignments, or other organizational changes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<section class=\"section section--teaser section--teaser_partners section--teaser_partners--horizontal px-0 py-4\">\n<div class=\"section--teaser_partner\">                         <a class=\"link-reset text-decoration-none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/exclusive-layoffs-hit-wpp-media-agencies-days-after-reports-of-groupm-rebrand\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" alt=\"\" class=\"image image--partner\"\/><br \/><\/a>                     <\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Agency brands won\u2019t go away<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>During the 2 p.m. ET meeting, agency leadership reiterated that the changes are part of a broader plan to shift to a \u201csingle operating model\u201d across GroupM North America. \u201cThe agency brands will continue to exist\u2026 What they cease to be is individual, distinct business units,\u201d said one executive, whom ADWEEK was unable to identify. \u201cThey will cease to operate business P&amp;Ls in the market, but they will continue to be homes for our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Employees were told to expect a follow-up email detailing the next steps, as well as a question form they can fill out.<\/p>\n<p>The update follows ADWEEK\u2019s earlier report that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/exclusive-layoffs-hit-wpp-media-agencies-days-after-reports-of-groupm-rebrand\/\" target=\"_blank\">layoffs had begun at the media network<\/a> earlier this week\u2014days after the agency reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/wpp-kill-off-groupm-rebranding-wpp-media\/\" target=\"_blank\">rebranded from GroupM to WPP Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The meeting reiterated details from a leaked memo.<\/h4>\n<p>A leaked memo sent by GroupM CEO Brian Lesser on Monday, which has been obtained by ADWEEK, also outlined changes including the shift to a single operating model, agency title restructuring, and the integration of Nexus and investment functions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of this process, we\u2019ve had to make difficult decisions as we work to improve our team structure and reduce overlap,\u201d Lesser wrote. \u201cThis will affect some roles across our markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GroupM leadership sent a new memo to employees after the meeting<\/h4>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting, Farjami sent a note to employees reiterating the changes. In the note, obtained by ADWEEK, he acknowledged: \u201cThis has been a challenging week, especially for those whose roles were impacted.
