{"id":234182,"date":"2025-05-10T06:43:19","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T06:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/airline\/frontier-airlines-adds-unlimited-companion-travel-elite-perk-worth-it\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T06:43:19","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T06:43:19","slug":"frontier-airlines-adds-unlimited-companion-travel-elite-perk-worth-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=234182","title":{"rendered":"Frontier Airlines Adds Unlimited Companion Travel Elite Perk: Worth It?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Frontier Airlines <a href=\"https:\/\/news.flyfrontier.com\/frontier-airlines-launches-unlimited-companion-travel-benefit-for-its-most-frequent-flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has just rolled out<\/a> a lucrative new program, which I\u2019m sure will interest some travelers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-frontier-platinum-amp-diamond-members-get-companion-travel-perk\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"frontier_platinum_diamond_members_get_companion_travel_perk\"\/>Frontier Platinum &amp; Diamond members get companion travel perk<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>Frontier Airlines has just introduced an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyfrontier.com\/frontiermiles\/companion-travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unlimited companion travel benefit<\/a> for Frontier Miles Platinum and Diamond elite status members \u2014 the companion just has to pay taxes and fees (starting at $5.60), but otherwise doesn\u2019t have to pay a fare. <\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1019006\/OMAAT_InContent --><\/p>\n<p>With this new benefit, eligible members can choose any friend or family member they wish, to accompany them on any Frontier flight, anywhere the airline flies. To book this, members need to be logged into their Frontier Miles account on the Frontier website or app. There\u2019s no requirement to always travel with the same companion, so you could have a different companion with each trip, if you wanted to.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no limit to how often this perk can be used. Companion travel is not permitted on GoWild! bookings (the carrier\u2019s \u201call you can fly\u201d concept), and the companion won\u2019t earn any miles or elite status points for the value of the flight.<\/p>\n<p>For context, Frontier Miles Platinum status requires 50,000 elite points in a year, while Diamond status requires 100,000 elite points in a year. It\u2019s also possible to earn elite status through spending on Frontier\u2019s co-branded credit card, at the rate of one elite point per dollar spent.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how Frontier Chief Commercial Officer Bobby Schroeter describes this:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur FRONTIER Miles Elite Status members enjoy the most rewarding loyalty program in the sky \u2013 and now, our Platinum and Diamond members can share the benefits with a companion on every Frontier flight. We are laser-focused on delivering real value and rewards to customers left behind by other airline loyalty programs, and our new companion travel shows our commitment to offering convenience, flexibility and our signature affordability.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is Frontier\u2019s latest attempt to <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/frontier-airlines-first-class-upgrades-free-companion-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">make flying with the carrier more lucrative<\/a>. The airline has been greatly beefing up its elite perks, including introducing upgrades. Soon, Frontier also plans to introduce first class. We certainly can\u2019t accuse Frontier of not trying to evolve!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"803\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.onemileatatime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Frontier-Companion-Travel.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-341685\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Frontier Airlines has a new companion travel benefit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-i-commend-frontier-for-its-evolution-but-will-it-work\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"i_commend_frontier_for_its_evolution_but_will_it_work\"\/>I commend Frontier for its evolution, but will it work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>As we all know, ultra low cost carriers have been in a tough spot in recent years, as we\u2019ve seen labor costs increase, all while the profitable demand for air travel has shifted to premium and long haul, with many profits coming from loyalty programs. Even <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/insights\/american-delta-united-profitability-divide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the profitable airlines don\u2019t have great margins<\/a> on actually transporting passengers.<\/p>\n<p>I have to give Frontier huge credit for the extent to which it has evolved its business model, as the airline is acting fast. The carrier seems to be heavily focused on attracting more passengers (fair enough!), but not on improving margins, which is also what\u2019s needed.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Frontier recently ran <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/frontier-free-checked-bags\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a promotion targeting Southwest passengers<\/a>, by offering a free checked bag. I mean, that\u2019s a nice promotion that leads to a great deal for some people, but it\u2019s simply not sustainable to charge Frontier fares while also not generating ancillary revenue. And if you just offer passengers a free checked bag once, it\u2019s also not likely to lead to repeat business.<\/p>\n<p>Now Frontier seems to be focusing on increasing revenue from its loyalty program. However, Frontier will probably struggle to materially build market share there, given the carrier\u2019s limited network, plus lackluster passenger experience. <\/p>\n<p>One thing is for sure \u2014 if you just want the best deal and if Frontier\u2019s route network works for you, there are lots of great deals to be had on the airline at the moment, as it tries to find its place in the market.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"873\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.onemileatatime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Frontier-Airlines-A320neo-14.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-275125\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Frontier is evolving rapidly, but margins are an issue<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bottom-line\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"bottom_line\"\/>Bottom line<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>Frontier Airlines has rolled out a new companion travel perk for Frontier Miles Platinum and Diamond members. This is even more generous than Southwest\u2019s Companion Pass offer, as you can change your companion with every trip.
