This reacts to light and captures your image. You can buy it <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4d9oEsi\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"648\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"481\"><strong data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"479\">Prepare the Cans<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"877\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"877\"><strong data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"673\">Make the Pinhole<\/strong><br data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"676\"\/>Use a pin (not a drawing pin) to make a tiny hole slightly above halfway up the camera body. Cover the hole from the outside with a small piece of gaffer tape until you\u2019re ready to expose the photo.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"1131\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"922\"><strong data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"920\">Load the Paper (in very dim light)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"1131\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"969\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"928\" data-end=\"969\">Remove one sheet of photographic paper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"1073\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1073\">Curl it inside the camera body, shiny side <strong data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1040\">facing the pinhole<\/strong>, matte side against the metal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1131\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1131\">Leave a small gap in the paper where the pinhole is.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1226\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1226\"><strong data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1155\">Seal the Camera<\/strong><br data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1158\"\/>Fit the lid onto the camera body and tape them together securely.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1586\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1231\" data-end=\"1256\"><strong data-start=\"1231\" data-end=\"1254\">Position the Camera<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1586\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1346\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1346\">Aim the camera <strong data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1286\">south<\/strong> to capture the arc of the sun as it moves across the sky.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1506\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1506\">The pinhole acts like an ultra-wide-angle lens\u2014wider than even the 0.5x mode on your phone\u2014so place it <strong data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1465\">closer<\/strong> to your subject than you might expect.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1586\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1586\"><strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1548\">Tilt the camera slightly upwards<\/strong> to ensure it captures the sun\u2019s path.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1591\" data-end=\"1614\"><strong data-start=\"1591\" data-end=\"1612\">Secure the Camera<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1686\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1686\">Fix the camera in place using <strong data-start=\"1650\" data-end=\"1665\">gaffer tape<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1669\" data-end=\"1683\">cable ties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1690\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1692\" data-end=\"1829\">Once secured, <strong data-start=\"1706\" data-end=\"1743\">remove the gaffer tape \u201clens cap\u201d<\/strong> from the pinhole and stick it somewhere safe on the can so you can re-cover it later.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1831\" data-end=\"2109\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1850\"><strong data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1848\">Be Patient<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1854\" data-end=\"2109\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1854\" data-end=\"1924\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1856\" data-end=\"1924\">Exposure time can be anywhere from <strong data-start=\"1891\" data-end=\"1921\">24 hours to several months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1928\" data-end=\"2021\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1930\" data-end=\"2021\">For your first attempt, try a <strong data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"1980\">24-hour exposure<\/strong> to quickly learn and adjust if needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2025\" data-end=\"2109\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2027\" data-end=\"2109\">When you\u2019re ready to collect it, <strong data-start=\"2060\" data-end=\"2087\">cover the pinhole again<\/strong> with the gaffer tape.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2111\" data-end=\"2138\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2115\" data-end=\"2138\"><strong data-start=\"2115\" data-end=\"2136\">Process the Image<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul data-start=\"2142\" data-end=\"2455\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2142\" data-end=\"2216\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2216\">In <strong data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2165\">very dim light<\/strong>, open the can and remove the photographic paper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2220\" data-end=\"2455\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2222\" data-end=\"2283\">If successful, you\u2019ll see a <strong data-start=\"2250\" data-end=\"2280\">faint pink and white image<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"11\" data-start=\"2457\" data-end=\"2485\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2457\" data-end=\"2485\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2461\" data-end=\"2485\"><strong data-start=\"2461\" data-end=\"2483\">Digitise the Photo<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul data-start=\"2489\" data-end=\"2619\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2489\" data-end=\"2532\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2491\" data-end=\"2532\">Work quickly to avoid further exposure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2536\" data-end=\"2619\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2619\"><strong data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2561\">Tape the paper flat<\/strong> and photograph it using your phone or camera, or scan it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"12\" data-start=\"2621\" data-end=\"2645\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2621\" data-end=\"2645\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2625\" data-end=\"2645\"><strong data-start=\"2625\" data-end=\"2643\">Edit the Image<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"2856\"\/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2858\" data-end=\"3033\">Hopefully, your first solargraph turns out beautifully.
