Part 2."},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 5, 2025, \u00a9 Leeham News:<\/strong> We started the articles series about stretching the A220 to a capacity in the A320neo range last week by going through the development of the A220-100 and -300, how it\u2019s designed and compares to the competition in the 100 to 140 seat segment.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we analyze what we need to change to bring the capacity to the level of the A320neo and whether changes to the wing and engines, in addition to prolonging the fuselage, are necessary when we increase its capacity.<\/p>\n<p>We use the Leeham Aircraft Performance and Cost Model (APCM) to look at the design data for the A220-300 and discuss what it will mean to make the different changes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_42256\" style=\"width: 2410px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/leehamnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/A220-500.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42256\" class=\"wp-image-42256 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/leehamnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/A220-500.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2400\" height=\"627\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-42256\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Figure 1.
