The EC Sales List (ESL) is therefore usually filed monthly or quarterly.<\/p>\n<p>The EC Sales List is used by tax offices in the EU to confirm the correct amount of VAT is being paid and declared by all involved parties.<\/p>\n<h2>What should I include in an EC Sales List?<\/h2>\n<p>Your EC List should contain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Details about your EU customer(s)<\/li>\n<li>The value of goods and services you\u2019ve supplied, in sterling<\/li>\n<li>Your customer\u2019s country code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kashflow.com\/making-tax-digital\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"174\" class=\"alignnone cta-image wp-image-81698\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kashflow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/mtd-banner-middle-point.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2>When should I complete an EC Sales List?<\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to complete an EC Sales List when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You supply goods to VAT-registered business in other EC countries, even if you haven\u2019t invoiced them (unless they\u2019re samples for VAT purposes).<\/li>\n<li>You provide a VAT-registered business in another EC country with a credit note for goods, even if they weren\u2019t provided in the same period.<\/li>\n<li>You supply services to a VAT-registered EU business and they account for the VAT (also called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kashflow.com\/support\/kb\/reverse-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reverse charge<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>You move your own goods to a VAT-registered branch, office or subsidiary of your own company that operate in another EC country.<\/li>\n<li>You sell goods to a VAT-registered EU business in one country and arrange for a supplier to send them directly (called triangulation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll automatically get an EC Sales List form if you fill in box 8 of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kashflow.com\/accounting-software\/vat-returns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VAT Return<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>VAT on European Sales<\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019ll use an EC list on both goods and services, and you\u2019ll need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kashflow.com\/support\/kb\/recording-ec-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">record your EC Sales<\/a> with the correct rate of VAT.<\/p>\n<p>If your customer is VAT registered in another European Commission State, then you should have a record of their VAT number.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have to make sure the VAT numbers for both companies are registered with the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) for your ES Sales List to be valid.<\/p>\n<h2>Using a simplified ESL<\/h2>\n<p>A simplified ESL only needs to be sent once a year, by a date you\u2019ll agree with HMRC. You\u2019ll also only have to enter the nominal value of \u00a31 as the value of your supplies to each customer \u2013 you won\u2019t have to enter the actual value.<\/p>\n<p>If you meet the following criteria, you can apply to submit a simplified ESL:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your total annual taxable turnover in below sum of the VAT registration threshold plus \u00a325,500.<\/li>\n<li>Your supplies to EU customers are less than \u00a311,000 a year.<\/li>\n<li>Your sales don\u2019t include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/vat-notice-728-new-means-of-transport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Means of Transport<\/a>, as specified by HMRC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>When should I send an EC Sales List?<\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019ll have to send your EC List monthly if\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The value of your goods is over the \u00a335,000 threshold in the current or previous 4 quarters.<\/li>\n<li>The goods or supplies you provide require you to send monthly lists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll have to send your EC List quarterly if\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The value of your goods is under the \u00a335,000 threshold in the current or previous 4 quarters.<\/li>\n<li>The services you provide require you to send monthly lists.<\/li>\n<li>The services you provide are subject to the reverse charge in the customer\u2019s country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Sending EC Lists in KashFlow<\/h2>\n<p>You can run the EC Sales List report in just a couple of clicks in KashFlow\u2019s Accounting Software.
